I usually just go to BCAA
Matt
Depending on your work situation (extended medical) and/or the credit card you use, you may already have some form of travel insurance. Never hurts to check.
Andrew
BCAA has a great yearly insurance for just over 120. Can travel out month long vacations at a time. But will have to enter back within a month so you can travel out again with the insurance. What I do is use BCAA then purchase another insurance from either London Drugs or RBC for my extended trips

I prefer travel underwriters, always had the best rates with them. Link through the coast capital website

BCAA the best coverage and I think reasonable!

Where is the Cheapest Place to Get Travel Insurance?
Traveling can be an exciting adventure, but unexpected events like medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage can quickly turn your dream vacation into a nightmare. That's why having travel insurance is crucial. But with so many providers and options available, it can be challenging to find the cheapest travel insurance. Here's a breakdown of some of the most affordable options.
1. Online Travel Insurance Providers
One of the most cost-effective ways to purchase travel insurance is through online providers. These companies often offer competitive rates and a wide range of coverage options. Some popular online travel insurance providers include:
- InsureMyTrip: This site allows you to compare quotes from multiple insurance providers, making it easier to find the best deal for your needs.
- Travelex: With a variety of plans and add-ons, Travelex offers affordable travel insurance options for various types of trips.
- World Nomads: Known for their comprehensive coverage for adventurous travelers, World Nomads also offers budget-friendly plans.
2. Credit Card Travel Insurance
Many premium credit cards offer complimentary travel insurance as a perk for cardholders. While the coverage may not be as comprehensive as a dedicated travel insurance policy, it can still provide some basic protection at no additional cost. Some credit cards that offer travel insurance include:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve: This card offers trip cancellation/interruption insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, and more.
- Citi Prestige: Cardholders can enjoy trip delay protection, baggage delay protection, and travel accident insurance.
- American Express Platinum Card: This card provides travel accident insurance, baggage insurance, and trip cancellation/interruption coverage.
3. Travel Insurance Through Your Employer
Some employers offer travel insurance as part of their benefits package. While the coverage may be limited, it can be a cost-effective option if you're traveling for business purposes. Check with your company's HR department to see if they offer any travel insurance benefits.
4. Travel Insurance Through Your Existing Policies
Before purchasing a separate travel insurance policy, review your existing insurance policies, such as homeowners' or renters' insurance, to see if they provide any coverage for travel-related incidents. Some policies may offer limited coverage for lost or stolen luggage, trip cancellations, or medical emergencies while traveling.
Remember, when it comes to travel insurance, the cheapest option may not always be the best. It's essential to carefully review the coverage details and ensure that the policy meets your specific needs and provides adequate protection. Doing your research and comparing quotes from multiple providers can help you find the right balance between cost and coverage.
