We will be in Tokyo and Hiroshima in November for 10days, some of it business and some pleasure. Looking for highlights we should add to our trip! Places to stay, eat, and visit.

when you're in Hiroshima, take a ferry to Miyajima to see the Itsukushima shrine. it's one of the three views of Japan and is very beautiful.

Will enthusiastically encourage you to visit Miyajima. One of my favorite memories of my Japan visit. Spent the whole day there and hiked down the mountain.

We visited there also...very beautiful and not sp crowded. The deer there are more aggressive than the ones in Nara...watch out if you're eating near them...lol

Rayna take the tram up the mountain (there use to be wild monkeys at the top) then wander down. It can be a bit tiring at times due to the numerous stone steps but worth it to see all the shrines.

Go to a baseball game and the tsukiji fish market..there is so much to do though you won’t go wrong! But the baseball was really fun if the season is still running when you’re there!

In Hiroshima, I would highly recommend staying in the World Friendship Centre. It promotes peace, and the cost includes a room in the traditional guest house (mine even had a kitchen!), and you can arrange for a guided tour of the Peace Park and a presentation by one of the few remaining survivors of the bomb. You can also borrow a bike from the centre and easily tour Hiroshima's bike paths. The okonomoyaki available in the train station is incredible too!

I wouldn't spend much time in Hiroshima. See the Holocaust center, walk around the park and you're done. Spend your time over in Mijajima - beautiful. In Tokyo try the Robot Bar!

Def visit the Peace Museum...very emotional. We loved Hiroshima. You will a big difference to the crowds and noise level in Tokyo. Don't get me wrong, loved Tokyo too!

Best Okonomiyaki in Japan is in Hiroshima. I would highly recommend-Nagata-ya Restaurant. It is the best!

Eat the famed local savoury pancake, Okonomiyaki, in Hiroshima, at a speciality place. Just ask around!

The above restaurant is located in Tokyo, not in Hiroshima, and what they serve there is Osaka style okonomiyaki, which is completely different from Hiroshima style okonomiyaki.

Kanazawa is a great city near Hiroshima. And agreed that Miyajima (island off the coast of Hiroshima) is a lovely place to explore and spend a night

Just for your info, Kanazawa is a great city to visit, but is NOT near Hiroshima. Over 5-hour express train ride.

Definitely eat Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima. It is sooo good! Miyajima is beautiful. If you are interested in a naval history, take a train to Kure (30min from the city centre) and visit Yamato museum and submarine museum.
There is Hiroshima castle in the city centre as well.

Hiroshima style okonomiyaki is the only way to eat it!

The okonomiyaki that everyone is mentioning is unique in Japan and is actually called hiroshimiyaki. It’s the best!

FYI. People in Hiroshima calls it okonomiyaki. People outside of Hiroshima calls it hiroshimayaki. There is a big rivalry between Hiroshima style and Osaka style, and calling it hiroshimayaki can offend some people in Hiroshima, so I don’t recommend it. Just saying, so people don’t say it without knowing it and cause any bad feelings.

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is really good. It is currently under renovation, but they moved some of the permanent exhibit to another building for access.
Mario Kart in Tokyo is great!Try to do it at night, the atmosphere of the city is amazing!
