Hello!
I am looking for recommendations on anything Fiji related - Eg. Islands to visit, places to stay on a budget, getting around, island hopping, etc. I will be travelling in October for ~2 weeks.
Thank-you in advance!

Who are you travelling with (adults and/or kids)?
What are you hoping to see?
I’ve spent a lot of time in Fiji so I can possibly help a bit with a little more information.
In my experience with accommodations is that unless you’re staying in hostels, there isn’t really budget accommodations, even on the mainland where there isn’t much for beaches. Definitely do a tour out of Denerau (close to Nadi) - cabs can be expensive going to Denerau so I suggest taking a bus from Nadi.

Katrina Hello. Thank you for the reply! I will be travelling with my boyfriend. We are looking at island hoping. I looked at the Bula pass to take us from island to island. Do you have experience using this? On the mainland, is there a Supermarket or something similar where we can get snack, produce, etc for some meals?

Raelene I’ve never used it, but it sounds amazing! I would definitely recommend spending time in the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, especially if you can find affordable accommodations on the islands. I have spent a lot of time in Suva and honestly can’t think of anything worth seeing there for a tourist
. There are markets and tourist shops in Nadi if you’re wanting to visit markets.

Katrina haha! That is good to know as Suva was on the list for potentials. How about the Coral Coast?

Raelene Yadua Bay Resort and Villas looks pretty nice/affordable. You should be able to hop on a bus from Nadi and take it to the resorts along the Queens Road highway, just check with the resorts if they offer a road side pick up. Shuttles directly from Nadi probably aren’t as affordable. I would also say avoid the “mini busses” (9+ passenger vans) as I’ve seen some really bad accidents
. The big “charter” busses are much safer.

Raelene we watched a lot of them! Gave us a really good idea of what the different areas look like. We bought the cheap tickets without knowing much about the country but have learned so much. We are staying in three different areas- Denerau, plantation island and Taveuni. All really different parts of the country.

I did the exact same! Jumped on the cheap flight and thought well, I’ll figure the rest out later!

If you do a search in this group for “Fiji” you’ll get lots of posts to read through. Lots of us have travelled there since Fiji Airways starten their direct service and many have contributed great tips/advice/reports. Current, first-hand feedback. Good stuff and great place to start IMO!

We ended up there as a stop over to Australia and really enjoyed our meal at Vasaqa Fiji. Amazing food and huge portions. Great little spot.
