Curious if anyone has been to Boston? My husband and I are thinking about going in August - what are some things to do, places to see, best place to stay? We will be going to Fenway, but I have done 0 research for this trip so far! LOL

One of our favorite cities! Worth paying the high hotel prices to stay in a walkable area like Back Bay, especially cause you don’t even need a car. We stayed at the Fairmont Copley and it was incredible.

Walking the Freedom Trail and stopping at all the attractions along the way is amazing. And of course a trip to Boston wouldn't be complete without a stop at Cheers.

Love Boston, we took the cat boat tour, Faneuil Hall Market, Little Italy (north end but close to the waterfront), Boston common, definitely Fenway - we arrived 3 hrs before a ball game & could have used a hour more, our game was a rainout so we saw the rain delay ground procedures & got to go the next day for the rescheduled game. There is a walking tour follow the painted steps ( it was 10 yrs ago so not sure If they are still there) pubs on every corner where we stayed. We started and ended our trip in Boston, did Vermont, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard & more - a fall trip that I would do again !!

Buy a rail pass and hop on and go. Most train stations have an information desk that will help you with hotels based on your price point when you decide to get off the train. That way if you see something out the window that interest you, just hop off.

Depending on how long you are there. These City Passes are sometimes worth the price. We did buy a city pass when in New York and it saved us a lot. We also in Boston visited Harvard, Cheers Bar, walked the Freedom Trail. Beautiful city to visit. https://www.citypass.com/boston/things-to-do-boston

A Wonderful Weekend in Boston

Boston is an absolute gem of a city, with its rich history, charming neighborhoods, and vibrant culture. If you're planning a trip to Beantown in August, you're in for a treat! Here are some must-see attractions and insider tips to make the most of your stay.

Explore Historic Sites

As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston is brimming with historical landmarks. Start your journey on the iconic Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walking trail that connects 16 significant sites, including the Boston Common, the Paul Revere House, and the Bunker Hill Monument. Along the way, you'll learn about the city's pivotal role in the American Revolution.

Wander through Neighborhoods

Boston's neighborhoods are diverse and full of character. Stroll through Beacon Hill, with its gas-lit streets and stately brick row houses. Grab a cannoli in the North End, the city's Italian enclave. Or, explore the quirky shops and street art in Jamaica Plain. Each neighborhood has its own unique vibe and plenty of local eateries to try.

Visit the Museums

Art and history enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice in Boston. The Museum of Fine Arts boasts an impressive collection of artwork spanning ancient to modern times. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, housed in a stunning Venetian-style palace, is a must-visit for its unique ambiance and eclectic art collection. Science buffs will enjoy the Museum of Science, with its interactive exhibits and the famous Omni Theater.

Savor the Culinary Scene

Boston's culinary landscape is diverse and delicious. From seafood shacks serving up fresh lobster rolls to trendy restaurants pushing the boundaries of New American cuisine, there's something for every palate. Don't miss the iconic Union Oyster House, America's oldest continuously operating restaurant, for a taste of history and delectable clam chowder.

Where to Stay

For easy access to many attractions and a central location, consider staying in the Back Bay or Downtown areas. The Boston Park Plaza and the Revere Hotel Boston Common are both well-reviewed and situated near the Boston Common and Public Garden. If you prefer a more boutique experience, check out the charming inns in historic neighborhoods like Beacon Hill or the North End.

With its rich culture, vibrant neighborhoods, and endless activities, Boston promises an unforgettable summer getaway. Don't forget to catch a game at the iconic Fenway Park and soak in the electric atmosphere of this beloved ballpark!
