Lynda

Sherry
Lynda Thanks so much!

Mayan hands down. I have done a few excursions there and they are top notch!! Enjoy your trip!!
Ivy
I went to Huatulco for Christmas and New Years last year... stayed at La Brisas, it was beautiful.
Sherry
Ivy Awesome! We haven't been away since our 25th which was in 2010. It is time!!!!
Ivy
Only one flight required to Huatulco too:)
Kristy
Sherry Castillo is well loved by Canadians. Try also Villa Blanca which is our favourite. If you want All Inclusive to snorkel and relax Las brisas is the way to go. I hope you fall in love with Huatulco like many of us have. If you end up booking and want an excellent snorkel guy we have one. He also does personalized tours. He's Argentinian who has guided white water rafting on the kicking horse and scuba in Iceland and now does some cool stuff in Huatulco. We love him!
Jean
We have been to Huatulco twice both times stayed at the Villablanca. The Villablanca is a small, clean hotel right at the turn to both of the small towns. Easy walking 1 km to Santa Cruz where the Castillo is located and 1 km to La Crucecita. Incredibly safe to walk around after going for dinner in the evenings etc. The Castillo is not directly waterfront but is a block from the beach in Santa Cruz ( they have their own beach club a short shuttle away). The snorkelling is wonderful especially in Maguey Bay. Huatulco is an absolutely wonderful area to visit!!
Sherry
Kristy That is awesome!!! Thanks
George
I go to Manzanillo every year around Jan/Feb. One year I went there for Christmas and New Years. At Barcelo’s there was a huge Christmas dinner outside with a few bands and gifts for all. On New Years Eve there was the same followed by two hours of a
spectacular fireworks display. Temperature is 30, dry
and no rain. Love it.
There is snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, beach volleyball, tingle tours, volcano tours, village tours, a large 200 stall market and city within walking distance of the resort.
Karen
I like looking at trip central. Go under classic grid. You can see best prices for departures. Sometimes by just going the next day can save a lot of money!
Donz
Mayan Riviera is a great place for that. I recommend Xel-ha (full day for snorkeling) and Coba for jungle and culture
Marie
Mayan Riviera has everything you are looking for

Jennifer
What are you picturing in a quiet retreat?
Sherry
Jungle walks, seeing some ruins, quiet room, just not looking for a party place.
Jennifer
Some of the areas in the Mayan are very built up and touristy. I know there are also some that aren’t. For Mayan advice check out www.locogringo.com and also seriously check out Huatulco on the west

The Perfect 7-Day Mexico Getaway: Snorkeling, Jungles, and Tranquility
Planning a mid-December trip to Mexico? You've come to the right place! With its stunning beaches, vibrant marine life, and lush jungles, Mexico is an ideal destination for those seeking a mix of adventure and relaxation. Based on your interests in snorkeling, photography, and exploring the jungle, we recommend the Riviera Maya region on the Caribbean coast.
Riviera Maya: Snorkeling Paradise
The Riviera Maya is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life, making it a snorkeler's dream. The region boasts several world-class snorkeling spots, including the famous Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA), where you can explore stunning sculptures submerged in the Caribbean Sea. The nearby island of Cozumel is another snorkeling hotspot, offering easy access to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world.
Explore the Lush Jungles
In addition to its breathtaking coastal scenery, the Riviera Maya is home to lush jungles teeming with wildlife. Consider visiting the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts a diverse ecosystem of mangrove forests, coastal wetlands, and tropical jungles. Guided tours offer the opportunity to spot various bird species, monkeys, and even jaguars (if you're incredibly lucky).
Quiet Retreats in Riviera Maya
While the Riviera Maya is a popular tourist destination, it offers numerous quiet and serene spots for those seeking a tranquil retreat. The charming town of Tulum, known for its well-preserved Mayan ruins and eco-friendly resorts, is an excellent base for your stay. Here, you'll find boutique hotels and secluded beachfront cabanas that provide a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of larger tourist areas.
Another option is to venture to the quieter areas of the Riviera Maya, such as the sleepy fishing village of Puerto Morelos or the laid-back town of Akumal, known for its turtle-nesting beaches and snorkeling opportunities.
Plan Your Perfect Getaway
With its stunning natural beauty, diverse activities, and opportunities for relaxation, the Riviera Maya is an ideal destination for your 7-day Mexico getaway in mid-December. Whether you're snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs, exploring ancient Mayan ruins, or simply unwinding on a secluded beach, this region promises an unforgettable experience. Start planning your itinerary today and get ready to immerse yourself in the charm and beauty of Mexico's Caribbean coast.
