Trying to find a flight and a hotel to London, England (staying in the Greenwich area). Any ideas which sites to use other than hipmunk or expedia? I find once you find something they then jack up the price. I have removed my cookies many times. Just tired of looking.

For flights I like flight hub and if you're open to it, try airbnb. They're not hotels but you can get some really nice places.

Pretty sure I read once(a post from the guy that runs this page) that the cookie thing for travel searches isn't true. No need to remove them.

I've tried booking to Dublin through Icelandic air but can't seem to get it cheaper than the others. Did you do a few days there or straight through ?

Normally I wouldn't suggest AMA but a friend just book a 7 day trip including air and hotels for around 1200 to 1300 all in. The hotel was in Chelsea. Wirth checking!

I went to Iceland, stayed 3 days. Flew to Sweden, got on a cruise for a week. Flew from Sweden to Heathrow, stayed 2 weeks.heathrow to Iceland, Iceland to Edmonton. All flights in last year $1500 ( 5 flight legs)

Try Google Flights....we have had great success with them for pricing. It was about $400 less going to Dublin in March that way, by redirecting to the AC site directly from GF.

I will definitely try AMA - thank you!

My daughter flies often to London. Uses cheapo air or canadian affair. Mostly Canadian affair.

Hotels on their own are really small and pricey. Don't be afraid to stay further away and use the tube.

Just tested the identical open jaw flights to Italy in Sept with ITA and Google. The latter comes up with $1,133 and ITA is $1,485....so buyer beware!!!

Interesting as google flights and ITA are from the same base but you can book through Flights. http://www.agoda.com/ has been good for me with Hotels and Hostels.

I'd probably go through about 4 different sources before booking anything. I'm careful.

canadian affair has always been cheapest to go to UK, you can look on teletext.co.uk for places to stay for good rates.

Have succesfully used canadian affair in the past, but they no longer fly from YEG.

Yes I saw that Liz. Their prices were great.

Use google flights. Research flights in and out of dublin, and separate flights from dublin to london. If you look for far enough in advanced that should save you 3-400 at least. Also use google flights for just London!

canadian affair usually starts flights from YEG in summer in July, unfortuately it has always been summer flights only. Yes I admit I always went to Calgary for this flight as it was still cheapest route by $200-400pp which in the end with 4 made a big difference! Good luck! Still recommend teletext with perhaps the above comment to Dublin...Went on a holiday with flights and hotel to Greece from UK for 110pp. If you have time to look some fantastic deals to be found.

Forgot to mention that westjet sometimes has crazy good deals one way and return to dublin(hence my suggestion).

Just to note, canadian affair is not an airline. Just another booking agency. These days, the only flights they book are air transat flights. Transat actually owns the canadian affair brand.
Prices are generally identical between the canadian affair site and the air transat site, although there can sometimes be slight price differences. Always worth checking both.
As mentioned, air transat does not fly from Edmonton to Europe, only from Calgary.

I always find it is cheaper to book a flight and do the hotel myself. Get ideas for hotels from whatever site you want, then go directly to the website of the hotel and you often get great deals. I have done this in Paris, Istanbul, Frankfurt and this summer we will be spending some time in Prague. Never do the combo,

Finding Affordable Flights and Hotels to London's Greenwich Area

Planning a trip to London can be exciting, but finding the best deals on flights and accommodations can be a daunting task. While popular sites like Hipmunk and Expedia can be helpful, many travelers have experienced frustrating price hikes after initially finding a good deal. If you're looking to explore the charming Greenwich area of London, here are some alternative sites and tips to help you find affordable options:

1. Use Metasearch Engines

Metasearch engines like Skyscanner, Kayak, and Momondo can be invaluable in your search for the best deals. These sites scour hundreds of airline and travel agency websites, allowing you to compare prices across various platforms. They also offer flexible date and destination options, making it easier to find the most cost-effective options.

2. Consider Booking Separately

Instead of relying on package deals, consider booking your flight and hotel separately. This approach can sometimes yield better prices, especially if you're flexible with your travel dates. Sites like Google Flights and Hotelscombined can be useful for finding affordable options.

3. Explore Vacation Rental Sites

If you're planning a longer stay in London, vacation rental sites like Airbnb, Vrbo, and HomeAway can offer more affordable and spacious accommodations compared to traditional hotels. You'll also get the added benefit of experiencing a more local, authentic lifestyle in the Greenwich area.

4. Clear Your Cookies and Browse Incognito

Travel sites often use cookies to track your search history and may increase prices based on your browsing behavior. To avoid this, be sure to clear your cookies and browse in incognito or private mode when searching for flights and hotels.

5. Subscribe to Travel Newsletters

Many travel sites and airlines offer newsletters that provide exclusive deals and promotions. Subscribing to these newsletters can help you stay informed about upcoming sales and discounts, potentially saving you a significant amount of money on your trip to London.

By exploring these alternative sites and strategies, you'll increase your chances of finding affordable flights and accommodations in the charming Greenwich area of London, without the frustration of constantly seeing prices rise after your initial search.
