Not sure what the weather will be like in the new year, but South Korea and Japan are wonderful places to travel to and are marked by the CDC as countries with no mosquitoes that spread Zika. You can check out the map here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/zika-travel-information
Nathan
Lindsey Radioactive contamination?
Leeanne
Its cold and winter there in January!
Kirsten
The majority of Japan is cold ( = colder than Vancouver) and snowy in the winter - the exception may be Okinawa. I suspect Korea is similar...they had a lot of snow at their recent winter Olympics.
Katie

Not to deter you from trying to get pregnant, but in case you weren't aware you now only have to wait 3 months after visiting an area with Zika before trying to get pregnant. I wasn't aware the recommendations by health Canada have changed until I talked to my doctor this summer. I took a trip to Greece while I was pregnant and it was lovely, but myself I would have rather been in SE Asia.
Jill
Australia Gold. Coast.
Tanya
Greece!! No Zika there and in my opinion (I have travelled just about everywhere) so much to do and see and the best beaches
Leeanne
Everything is closed there in January though...
Char
Bermuda! It's closer to US than the Carribean islands so no zika and very popular for baby moons!
Valerie
not beach weather in jan/feb
Deanne
we were in New Zealand last January and February. It's not a tropical destination but that time is the height of summer and it's gorgeous. Lots of beaches in the north, stunning scenery and hikes in the south. It's not cheap, but since it's super easy to make all your own plans it's about the same price as traveling in Canada. Another bonus is that it's only a 3 hour time change in January (well, actually 21 hours but it works out the same) so you can hit the ground running as soon as you arrive. Highly recommend. (Australia is another great option for that time of year)

http://mantaraya-hotel.com/ Highly recommend this gem just outside of Huatulco. Perfect for a honeymoon, very secluded.
Sharon
For more of a relaxed honeymoon visit some of the Caribbean islands. Grand cayman, Aruba, Turks and Caicos.
Eva
Hawaii - the Big Island. If you want to add some of the other Islands-Maui, Kuaui and Oahu
Kimberly
Check out Rarotonga, Cook Islands. It is spectacular and cheap direct Sunday flights right now. Stay a week and then head for two weeks in New Zealand. (Many of the lovely Northern Hemisphere places recommended here have iffy weather in Jan and Feb - including Hawaii.)
Judy
Kimberly...which airline flies direct from Vancouver to Rarotonga?
Chris
.
Kimberly
Jenny Reis-McCoy There are lots of white sand beaches to stroll and palm trees to be lazy under as well. It’s the same proposition activities-wise as going to Hawaii, just smaller and less crowded.

Since SE Asia was your original plan, check out Sri Lanka. It's Zika free and also amazing. Affordable, great food, plenty of off the beaten path locations and amazing people. The beaches in the south are ok (some are quite touristy) but the beaches on the east coast (Trincomalee) are amazing. We went in January (when it was supposed to be rainy on the east coast) and had amazing weather and calm seas. Highly recommended
Chanelle
Melissa thank you!
Catherin
Melissa we loved Sri Lanka. Would go back in. Heartbeat. We were there the first two weeks of February ‘19. Visit the famous sites and otherwise just hang out! Lovely people!

Most of the tropical places have Zika, i would recommend Australia/New Zealand, or southern parts of Europe. If your wife is already pregnant then it's not worth the risk even though Zika has decreased in most parts of the world. If your simply trying to get pregnant then I think Zika stays in your body for 6 months so you could delay trying until after that time period.
Chanelle
Michelle Bergsma we’re not willing to take that risk just for a trip, which is why I came to this very knowledgeable group for alternatives
Dawn
We discovered Curacao and love it. Weather never changes, fabulous snorkeling, nice hiking, great people.....rent an airbnb on the water and enjoy the privacy, rent a car and explore.
Daryl
We were also thinking of traveling while I was pregnant and the more we looked into it and understood the healthcare coverage and heard horror stories of people traveling and going into labour prematurely and then not being able to get home for months.... and also just how overall it just wasn’t enjoyable to travel pregnant because they were so tired and sick... we decided it just wasn’t worth the risk. Also depending on how pregnant you are a lot of airlines won’t even let you fly anymore and insurance won’t cover you. So make sure you really do your due diligence in looking into this first.
Violeta
How about Boracay or El Nido Philippines.
Chanelle
Violeta they’ve got Zika warnings unfortunately
Nicole
Chile is your best bet. I looked into this last year when I was pregnant.

Zika-Free Honeymoon Destinations for Late January/Early February
Planning a honeymoon can be an exciting but challenging task, especially when factoring in health concerns like the Zika virus. Since your original plans for Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia are off the table due to the risk of Zika, here are some fantastic international destinations that could make for a memorable and safe honeymoon:
New Zealand
New Zealand is a breathtakingly beautiful country with a temperate climate, making it an ideal destination for late January/early February. You can explore diverse landscapes, from the pristine beaches of the North Island to the majestic Southern Alps. New Zealand is Zika-free and offers excellent outdoor adventures, delicious food (don't miss the local wines!), and a unique Māori culture to experience.
South Africa
South Africa is a magnificent destination that offers a blend of stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and incredible wildlife. During their summer months (January/February), you can enjoy warm weather, gorgeous beaches, and exciting safari experiences. From the vibrant city of Cape Town to the iconic Kruger National Park, South Africa promises an unforgettable honeymoon adventure.
Morocco
Morocco is a captivating country with a unique blend of African, Arab, and European influences. Late January/early February is an ideal time to visit, as the weather is pleasantly warm and dry. Explore the bustling medinas, indulge in delectable Moroccan cuisine, and marvel at the stunning architecture, including the iconic Sahara Desert. Morocco is Zika-free and offers a fascinating cultural experience.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a tropical paradise known for its beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, and abundant wildlife. While parts of Costa Rica have experienced Zika cases, the country has implemented robust prevention and control measures. You can enjoy the stunning Pacific and Caribbean coasts, explore national parks teeming with biodiversity, and immerse yourselves in the pura vida (pure life) culture.
No matter which destination you choose, be sure to check travel advisories, take necessary precautions, and consult with your healthcare provider, especially if pregnancy is a possibility. With some flexibility and open minds, you can create an unforgettable honeymoon experience filled with adventure, relaxation, and cherished memories.

Our original honeymoon plans for late January/early February (Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia) are a no go now because of Zika virus.
So, do you have any recommendations for warm, international destinations that would be appropriate for a possibly pregnant wife and husband honeymoon for 3 weeks in late January/early February? We are looking for warm or hot weather, nice beaches, good food, Zika free, and medium level expense. We are not guided tour people, we prefer to do our own thing. We also like the idea of going to several different places over the 3 weeks.
EDIT: Looking for international travel. Hawaii is wonderful but not quite what we’re looking for this trip
