I would like to get some dental work done in Mexico while we are in the Galvaston, Texas over Christmas. Is there a company that facilitates or that has information on reputable dentists? I don't know where to start.

We have a place in Phoenix area. Lots of snowbirds from Can and US go to Mexico. We’ve started hearing about recommendations through others. Try posting where you’ll be going and I’m sure you will find some recs. You can also post on similar pages at your destination.

Go here. We’ve been going for years. Kirk speaks English and is a Canadian from BC.
His practice is great.
And it’s about 30-40% the cost of Canada. Tell him Erin and Stu sent you!

Erin looked it up. Yes it is. I’ve been here. Had a crown done and my father in law had a bunch of stuff done too. Said it was the best cleaning he’d ever had done on his teeth.

Erin also had about 20k worth of Canadian dental work done with Kirk's Dentoamerica back in 2017. The 6 crowns and completed implant cost me about $6k CAD and the work has been flawless. My Canadian dentist is repeatedly impressed with the crowns. Make the effort to get to PV and catch up on all the work that needs to be done. Good luck!

Don't listen to people who say that you can only get bad dental work in Mexico. This is simply not true. I live in Mexico and there are so many fantastic dentists here. I have had HORRIBLE work done in Canada, but my work in Mexico has been really good overall. I live in Mexico City, so not close to the border, but do your research and you will save a lot of money. I might suggest joining FB groups like “Foreigners in __________ ” (insert city name) and asking there. You will get good local recommendations. If you decide to get your work done in Monterrey or Mexico City, let me know and I can make recommendations.
The only people who tell you that ALL work done in Mexico is bad are the same people who directly benefit from you not getting work done in Canada (dentists). With the stories they tell, you would think everyone in Mexico is walking around with a mangled mouth, but we aren´t!
With that being said, if you need to get some serious work done (like root canal, crown, etc) it is really important to plan a sufficient amount of time in Mexico to get the work done.
Galveston isn´t that close to the border, so your best bet would be to fly to the Mexican City of your choice to get the work done. If you decide to go to Reynosa or Matamoros, which are the closest cities on the border, just be REALLY careful because those cities aren´t the safest or nicest places to visit in Mexico. Good luck!

Marie I guess you’re the expert! My husband doesn’t do general dentistry but he sees work done in Mexico.

your 'truth' would only be beneficial if you were an expert who can judge good or bad dental work.

Caroline your husband doesn’t see the good work done abroad because people generally stop going to Canadian dentists once they figure out they’re a rip off.
My Mexican dentist has seen terrible work from Canada but I guarantee her husband isn’t on the internet defending her. Her work speaks for itself

How long are you in Texas for? The Rio Nuevo Progresso crossing is likely where you'll want to look across the border and get recommendations...it is pretty safe. Galveston is a 6.5 hour drive from there, so you'll probably want to spend a night or two in that area depending on what kind of work you need done.

Have all my dental work done in Merida, Yucatan and the work has been excellent! I’ve had 6 cleanings 4 root canals and 6 crowns done and can’t say a bad thing! And the prices are amazingly cheap

Our dentist in Los Algodones was trained in the U.S. and lives in Yuma. Short drive to border crossing. We both had 5 and 6 crowns done in 2009 and still have them. We are going back in October to gave them checked. US$ 350.00 ea. Compared to 2100.00 CAD in Calgary. NOT! Combine ur trip with a little holiday and Win Win.

Dental Tourism in Mexico: A Convenient Option for Texans

If you're planning to visit Galveston, Texas, during the Christmas holidays and are considering getting dental work done, Mexico might be an attractive option. With its proximity to the Texas border, dental tourism in Mexico has become increasingly popular among Americans seeking affordable dental care without compromising quality.

Why Choose Mexico for Dental Work?

One of the primary reasons many Americans choose to get dental work done in Mexico is the significant cost savings. Dental procedures in Mexico can cost anywhere from 50% to 70% less than in the United States, making it an appealing option for those without dental insurance or those facing high out-of-pocket costs.

Additionally, many Mexican dentists and dental clinics are highly trained and equipped with modern facilities, offering a wide range of services, including cosmetic dentistry, implants, root canals, and more.

Finding Reputable Dental Clinics in Mexico

While the cost savings and quality of dental care in Mexico can be enticing, it's crucial to do your research and choose a reputable dental clinic. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. Seek recommendations: Ask friends, family members, or online communities for recommendations on reliable dental clinics in Mexico. Word-of-mouth referrals can be invaluable.
  2. Check credentials: Ensure that the dental clinic you're considering is staffed by licensed and experienced dentists. Look for certifications and accreditations from recognized organizations.
  3. Research online reviews: Read online reviews from past patients to gauge the quality of service, professionalism, and overall experience at the dental clinic.
  4. Consider dental tourism companies: There are companies that specialize in facilitating dental tourism to Mexico. These companies can help you find reputable clinics, arrange appointments, and provide assistance with travel and accommodation.

Dental Tourism Companies in Mexico

Here are a few reputable dental tourism companies that can assist you in finding a reliable dental clinic in Mexico:

  • Dayo Dental: With locations in Tijuana, Los Algodones, and Cancun, Dayo Dental offers a wide range of dental services and provides assistance with travel arrangements.
  • Dental Departures: This company connects patients with verified dental clinics in various Mexican cities, including Cancun, Tijuana, and Puerto Vallarta.
  • Dientes Sanos Dentistry: Based in Los Algodones, Dientes Sanos Dentistry has a reputation for providing high-quality dental care at affordable prices.

Remember, while dental tourism in Mexico can be a cost-effective option, it's essential to thoroughly research and choose a reputable dental clinic to ensure a safe and positive experience.
