Seeking Mayan Resort Recommendations for Adults with Entertainment but Not Crazy Nightlife

Question:

Profile picture of Maria

Maria

Hi all
Looking for Mayan Resort suggestions for a 40ish yr old plus environment, Adults only All Inclusive resort. Good food and nice rooms. Don’t need crazy nightlife but some entertainment is great. 4 star plus. Don’t want to be set far back in the jungle.
I’ve done some research but with the number of resorts it’s a tad overwhelming.
Thank in advance all

Su I am actually going to Bahia Principe Luxury Sia Kaan (which is all adult only with access to all the resorts and restaurants) which is also a part of this huge resort but not on the beach but is adult only and flying with westjet. I think air canada does Akumul. Check out both.

Grand Riviera Princess has a adults only area of the resort. I believe they shared everything with Riviera and Sunset. Great time, good food and entertainment. I stayed at the Riviera platinum and many our age and not many kids. Found most of the kids were at the family club part of the resort.

We stayed here for a wedding. It was amazing. Food was delish lots to choose from. Huge resort. I was sure it was 25 and up but we did meet a few who were early 20’s so I think it’s 18 and up for a few of the buildings. We also had a pool on our deck. Kind of like a trough lol.

Any of you guys know if I have to apply for a new passport if my child’s passport is expiring in July 2023? We plan to travel in February 2023 to Mexico or Cuba.

Profile picture of Glynis

Glynis

Jeanette for travel to Mexico or Cuba, as well as any international travel. The validity of your passport must be minimum of six months from the day that you land.

Profile picture of Jeanette

Jeanette

Glynis thank u!

Profile picture of Chris

Chris

Technically, countries vary from...
1. "Passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your stay" to
2. "Passport must be valid for at least three months after the day you plan to go home" to
3. "Passport must be valid for at least six months after the day you arrive"
(and other variations in between).
Canada, The United States, and Mexico all actually fall under #1. For Cuba, the passport must be valid for at least two months after the day you plan to go home.
*However* it's also true that one could potentially run into an airline or perhaps misinformed employee that chooses not to enforce the country regulations shown in Timatic (the database that airlines around the world use to verify travel documents). So to be 100% safe from having issues you probably want to have it valid for 6 months after the day you arrive which covers the vast majority of countries.
The Bahamas, Panama, and Bhutan are three countries where technically it's supposed to be valid for at least six months after the day you *plan to go home*

Profile picture of Jeanette

Jeanette

Chris thank u so much. I’m just dreading in applying for a new passport for my son because of all the delays happening lately.

Profile picture of Chris

Chris

Many of the comments I've seen lately from Canadians suggest that *new* applicants are receiving their passports in as little as 2-3 weeks. To the anger of those who applied in say, June, and haven't received one. There's kind of two systems processing applications right now: recent applications (going quickly) and the system still dealing with the backlog from spring/summer/early fall (taking forever).

Profile picture of Jeanette

Jeanette

Chris that’s good to know. Thank you for the updated information.
