The security guards will kick you out. We had to find a hotel last minute but luckily it was covered by travel insurance.
Google it, apparently it's a cultural thing

Staying overnight at an airport can be a daunting experience, but it's a common scenario for travelers with early morning flights or long layovers. If you find yourself in this situation at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, you'll be pleased to know that the airport is well-equipped to accommodate overnight guests.

Facilities for Overnight Stays

Haneda Airport offers a variety of amenities and facilities to make your overnight stay as comfortable as possible. Here are some of the options available:

  • Rest Areas: There are designated rest areas within the airport terminals where you can catch some sleep on the provided benches or chairs. These areas are open 24/7 and are free to use.
  • Capsule Hotels: For a more private and comfortable sleeping experience, Haneda Airport has capsule hotels located within the terminals. These compact capsule-style rooms offer a bed, television, and basic amenities. Rates are reasonable, and you can book them for a few hours or overnight.
  • Lounges: If you have access to airline lounges or are willing to pay for a day pass, you can take advantage of the comfortable seating and quiet environment they provide. Some lounges even offer private napping rooms or showers.

Tips for a Comfortable Stay

Here are some tips to make your overnight stay at Haneda Airport as smooth and comfortable as possible:

  1. Pack essentials: Bring a small travel pillow, blanket, eye mask, earplugs, and any other items that can help you sleep better in a public space.
  2. Dress comfortably: Wear comfortable clothing and layers that you can easily remove or add as needed.
  3. Stay hydrated: Airports can be dry and dehydrating, so make sure to drink plenty of water.
  4. Charge your devices: Ensure your phone, laptop, and other electronic devices are fully charged, as you'll likely need them to pass the time or stay connected.
  5. Be mindful of security: Keep your valuables close and secure, and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

While staying overnight at an airport may not be the most luxurious experience, Haneda Airport offers various options and amenities to make it as comfortable as possible. With a little preparation and the right mindset, you can get through the night and be ready for your early flight the next day.
