I would take a trip to Trinidad Cuba, its a World Heritage Sight and well worth seeing. Very different from Valedero.

I stayed at the Hotel Kohly in Havana for 5 weeks. Close to lots of things. Safe. Clean rooms. Food not great but not great anywhere in Cuba (IMO). Trinidad and Cienfuegos are two spots I'd go again.

Varedero has some beautiful beaches. We stayed a Hotel arenas Doradas outside of valedero on the beach. It has everything we needed. The beach is spacious and lovely , staff excellent , clean , free buses to town, good entertainment at night and the food was fine, . Mostly in season vegetables and seafood and pork. It was all inclusive but can get daily rate rooms too. The expresso was great!!!

I would look into casas particulares. There are lots of good ones in varadero.

Nancy book on Cuba Junky or airbnb it is all by honesty as there is no way to pay in advance. We researched and booked on both. If you are using the bus you need to get your ticket the day before! All hosts are a weath of information and very gracious, have a wonderful trip

Adventures in Cuba: Exploring Varadero and Havana
Posted on [Current Date]
Hey there! I'm so excited to hear that you're headed to Cuba in February. It's a beautiful country with a rich culture and plenty of amazing things to see and do. Let me share some suggestions for your trip:
Accommodation
Finding reasonably priced accommodation in Varadero can be a bit challenging, as it's a popular tourist destination known for its resorts. However, here are a few options to consider:
- Casa Particulares: These are private homes that rent out rooms to travelers. You can often find great deals and a more authentic experience by staying in a casa particular.
- Hostels: There are a few hostels in Varadero that offer affordable dorm-style accommodation. This could be a good option if you're on a tight budget.
- Airbnb: While you've already booked an Airbnb in Havana, it's worth checking for other listings in Varadero. You might find a hidden gem or a more reasonably priced option.
Places to Go
In addition to spending time in Varadero and Havana, here are some other fantastic places to consider visiting in Cuba:
- Viñales Valley: This stunning valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its unique limestone mogotes (steep hills) and tobacco plantations. It's a great place for hiking, horseback riding, and experiencing Cuban rural life.
- Trinidad: This well-preserved colonial town is a real gem. Stroll through its cobblestone streets, admire the beautiful architecture, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
- Bay of Pigs: History buffs might enjoy visiting the Bay of Pigs, where the failed US-backed invasion of Cuba took place in 1961. There's a museum and nearby beaches to explore.
- Cayo Santa María: If you're looking for a beautiful beach destination, consider spending a day or two on this stunning cay off the northern coast of Cuba.
Things to Do in Varadero
While Varadero is primarily known for its stunning beaches, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy if you decide to spend more time there:
- Beach Day: Of course, you can't visit Varadero without spending some time relaxing on its beautiful white sandy beaches and swimming in the crystal-clear waters.
- Dive or Snorkel: The waters off Varadero are home to vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life, making it an excellent spot for diving or snorkeling.
- Visit a Cave: Explore the unique and fascinating Cueva de Ambrosio or Cueva de Saturno, two well-known caves in the area.
- Delfinorama: If you're interested in marine parks, Delfinorama offers dolphin encounters and shows.
I hope these suggestions help you plan an amazing trip to Cuba! Don't hesitate to reach out if you need any other recommendations.

Hey hey!
I'm headed to Cuba in February, with plans to fly into/out of Varadero and then bus over to Havana for a few days. I'm hoping for some suggestions re:
Accommodation:
I've managed to book a well-reviewed (on website and a few travel publications) airbnb for 4 days in Havana, but I'm having trouble finding a reasonably priced place to stay in Varadero. I can only seem to find resorts, with no availability.
Places to go:
We'll likely spend 1-2 days in Varadero, but we were hoping of finding other places to venture as well. We'll spend 4 days in Havana... but does anyone have any other suggestions of places to see? OR places to go in Varadero, should we decide to spend more time there (and if we can find accommodation)?
THANKS!
