Go through VERBO or flip key to find a place it's cheaper
Tessa
To save some money... pick a destination not on US currency. At this point a trip to Australia (currency at parity with CAD) is potentially cheaper. Or check out the pacific islands.

Flights to Australia will eat up potential savings compared to going to Maui

If you are planning to drive around the island it's worth renting a car. We used Costco. Also VRBO was great for finding a affordable yet comfortable place.
Susanna
We stayed at a vrbo rental in Kihei which was clean, central and very affordable. It wasn't fancy but it was clean, had a little kitchenette etc. Vrbo 938004 $75 usd per night.

FYI the place is not as bright as it looks in the photos but other than that looks the same.

Tips for Affordable Honeymoon in Maui
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Planning a honeymoon can be both exciting and stressful, especially when trying to stick to a budget. Here are some tips to help you have an affordable honeymoon in Maui:
1. Booking Flights
When it comes to booking flights, flexibility is key. Try to be flexible with your travel dates and consider flying mid-week as flights tend to be cheaper. Use flight comparison websites like Skyscanner or Google Flights to find the best deals. Additionally, signing up for airline newsletters and setting up price alerts can help you snag a good deal.
2. Accommodation
For affordable accommodation options in Maui, consider staying in a vacation rental or Airbnb. These options are often cheaper than hotels and provide a more personalized experience. Look for accommodations in less touristy areas or consider booking a stay in a hostel or guesthouse.
3. Transportation
Renting a car in Maui is a must to explore the island at your own pace. Look for deals on car rentals through websites like Expedia or Rentalcars.com. You can also consider using public transportation or biking to get around the island.
4. Activities
There are plenty of free or budget-friendly activities to enjoy in Maui, such as hiking in Haleakalā National Park, visiting local farmers markets, or lounging on the beautiful beaches. Consider purchasing a Maui Value Pass for discounted admission to popular attractions.
5. Dining
Eating out in Maui can be expensive, but you can save money by dining at local food trucks, markets, or grocery stores. Look for happy hour specials or consider packing a picnic for a romantic meal on the beach.
Remember to plan ahead and do your research to make the most of your budget-friendly honeymoon in Maui. Congratulations again and have a wonderful trip!
