But a SIM card once there at grocery store. If you spend a certain amount (not sure of amount) data is included.

I'm in Australia right now. I second this. I went with the optus prepaid $30 plan. 3GB + 7GB bonus data. Unlimited national talk and text (including MMS). Spotify streaming is unlimited and doesn't affect the 10GB. Go for the $40 plan and get unlimited international talk and text to certain countries including Canada. Either way, works great for if you're on the road a lot.
My only complaint... Only certain parts of Melbourne you can access 4G. I've only found it along Lygon street. Everywhere else is H+.

We did pay as you go.

I used Aldi
Amazing prices.
You'll be devastated when you return to Canada.

I miss Aldi! Hope it comes to Canada soon.

All good advice: buy when you get there

Make sure your phone isn't locked to your carrier before you go. I used cellunlocker.net to unlock our phones for $15ea before we went down. We used a telstra 1 month deal. $30 each I think

I️ go straight to the optus counter in the Sydney airport every time I️ get there. I️ can’t remember exactly off the top of my head but they always have awesome pre pay plans !!
