Wondering What Activities to Do in Hawaii with Teenage Daughters?

My advice: leave the kids at home and go have fun with your wife!

It really depends on what you are looking for out of a vacation. If you want to be near restaurants/shopping/nightlife a hotel right on Waikiki beach is the way to go in Oahu. In Maui, look at hotels in Lahaina.
If you’d like a quieter relaxing vacation, or if anyone in your family surfs, look at the north shore on Oahu.
I stayed in Wailea when I went to Maui, it was beautiful but I wouldn’t suggest it for a family, Wailea is more for honeymooners, it’s very quiet, there’s not much in that area and you have to drive quite far to get to Lahaina and the road to Hana. While in Maui, make sure you get the family up at 2am and drive up to Haleakala to watch the sun rise, it can get a little busy up there but the experience is absolutely worth it.

Jan you have to book ahead for haleakala if you want to see sunrise between 3 -7 a.m.

If you've never been, I'd stay near Waikiki on Oahu. Very busy and some people don't like that but you'll get plenty of quiet time in Maui so it's a nice balance.
Especially with teenage daughters who will probably enjoying the shopping and restaurants.

Hale Kai O'Kihei , in Kihei Maui. Near everything and right on the beach. It's an older building but we love the location. Lahaina is hotter, busier, and very touristy. I prefer Kihei. Bus system is great, and it is central to all attractions on Maui. Another nice place to stay in Kihei is Luana Kai.

There are 2 older condominium style hotels I have used. Aston Waikiki Banyon and Waikiki Sunset. Both on Kuhio and Paoakalani, close to the end of the "hotel" zone so is quieter. 3 small blocks to the beach (5 minute walk). City bus runs along Kuhio. Set up with full kitchen in most rooms, BBQ down on pool deck to use.

Hey folks. New to the site.
Planning a trip to Hawaii in October with my wife and 16 year old girls.
5 days in Oahu and 5 in Maui.
Any recomendations for reasonable accommodations and things to do.
Thanks in advance.
