Nikki I stayed at both an air bnb and a hotel. Both great locations but I did like the air bnb more than the hotel.

Exploring Belgium in 2 Days
With only two days in Belgium and an early flight from Brussels Airport (CRL) on the third day, you have a limited but exciting opportunity to explore some of the country's beautiful cities. Here's a suggested itinerary that will allow you to experience the charming towns of Bruges and Ghent while staying close to the airport for your departure.
Day 1: Bruges
Start your journey in Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its picturesque canals, medieval architecture, and quaint cobblestone streets. Spend the day wandering through the enchanting city center, visiting iconic landmarks like the Belfry Tower, the Markt Square, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. Don't miss a boat tour on the canals for a unique perspective of the city.
Day 2: Ghent
On your second day, head to the vibrant city of Ghent, located just a short train ride from Bruges. Explore the historic Graslei and Korenlei quays, admire the imposing Ghent Belfry, and visit the impressive St. Bavo's Cathedral, home to the famous Ghent Altarpiece. Ghent's lively student population adds a youthful energy to the city, making it a great spot for dining and nightlife.
Where to Stay
While Brussels itself may not be the most attractive destination, its proximity to the airport (CRL) makes it a practical choice for your accommodation. Consider staying in the city center or near the train station, which will make it easier to catch an early train to the airport on your departure day. Alternatively, you could stay in Ghent, as it's closer to the airport than Bruges and offers a more vibrant atmosphere.
Getting Around
Belgium has an excellent public transportation system, making it easy to navigate between cities. Trains are frequent and efficient, so you can easily travel from Bruges to Ghent and then to Brussels Airport on your final day. Additionally, both Bruges and Ghent are compact cities that are best explored on foot.
While you may not have enough time to visit Antwerp on this trip, it's a city worth considering for a future visit to Belgium. With its rich history, vibrant art scene, and excellent dining options, Antwerp offers a unique experience.
Enjoy your two days in Belgium, and make the most of your time exploring the charming cities of Bruges and Ghent.
