I’d recommend getting a wifi pouch when you land in the airport so you’re always connected to the internet. The subway system is pretty difficult to understand as some are private and public trains. Definitely go check out Mount Fuji, akihabara and the shibuya crosswalk. Take a bullet train to Nagano as well. Enjoy your trip to

I 2nd akihabara, and the shibuya crosswalk. Seeing Hachiko statue was a must for me. And i loved the tokyo tsukiji market. Tokyo subway was easiest for me to understand when i looked at the lines on a colored map and all the different lines were different colors...

Get a SIM or pocket wifi at the airport. Download the "Travel Japan" app especially if you doing a JR rail pass

I stayed in a fabulous airbnb apt in Kyoto. Five minute walk from the train station and 20ish minute walk to the temples. Look up 'put your luggage in early' hosted by Kumu and Haru.

Look into getting a Japan Railway pass! The two week pass is cheaper then a two way trip between Tokyo and Kyoto. The pass can only be bought as a foreigner before you arrive in Japan

Nara, Nikko, Mount Koya, Hiroshima, himeji, Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo are all fantastic places to check out

Kyoto, Kyoto and Kyoto. It's the most beautiful city in the world. Visit Nara too while you are there.

<p>Exploring Japan During Cherry Blossom Season

Exploring Japan During Cherry Blossom Season

Heading to Japan during the cherry blossom season is a breathtaking experience that should be on every traveler's bucket list. The fleeting beauty of the delicate pink blossoms is a true spectacle that draws millions of visitors each year. If you're planning a spontaneous 2-week trip to Japan starting on April 7th, here are some tips to make the most of your cherry blossom adventure.

Where to Go

Some of the best spots to witness the cherry blossoms in full bloom include:

  • Tokyo: The capital city offers numerous parks and gardens with stunning cherry blossom displays, such as Ueno Park, Shinjuku Gyoen, and the Imperial Palace East Gardens.
  • Kyoto: Known for its historical significance and traditional charm, Kyoto is home to several iconic cherry blossom viewing spots, including the Philosopher's Path and the stunning Arashiyama district.
  • Osaka: While not as famous as Tokyo or Kyoto, Osaka boasts several parks and riverbanks adorned with cherry blossoms, such as Osaka Castle Park and the Okawa River.
  • Mount Fuji: For a breathtaking combination of natural beauty, consider visiting the iconic Mount Fuji, where cherry blossoms frame the majestic peak, creating unforgettable landscapes.

Where to Stay

When it comes to accommodation, it's best to book well in advance, as cherry blossom season is one of the busiest times for tourism in Japan. Here are some options to consider:

  • Traditional Ryokans: For an authentic Japanese experience, stay in a traditional ryokan (Japanese inn) with tatami mat floors, futons, and hot spring baths.
  • Capsule Hotels: If you're on a budget and don't mind compact spaces, capsule hotels are a unique and affordable option, especially in major cities like Tokyo.
  • Airbnb: Renting an apartment or room through Airbnb can be a great way to immerse yourself in local neighborhoods and enjoy more space than a hotel.

What Not to Miss

In addition to the cherry blossom viewing spots, here are some other activities and experiences you shouldn't miss during your trip:

  • Hanami Picnics: Join locals in the time-honored tradition of hanami (cherry blossom viewing parties), where people gather under the blooming trees for picnics and celebrations.
  • Traditional Festivals: Japan hosts numerous festivals during the spring, such as the Takayama Spring Festival or the Sanja Matsuri in Tokyo, offering a glimpse into the country's rich cultural heritage.
  • Culinary Adventures: Indulge in Japan's world-renowned cuisine, from sushi and ramen to unique regional specialties, and don't forget to try the seasonal sakura (cherry blossom) flavored treats.
  • Day Trips
