Landing at Heraklion, it would be strange not to visit the Minoan ruins as well as the Heraklion Museum! If you like nature, check out the northshore beaches near Rethimno. August is sea turtle nesting and baby turtle hatching season. There are also tons of hiking trails on the south side of the island.
