Has anyone been to Vietnam? Any advice on where’s to fly into/ out of? Any must see/do? I’ll be going for spring break.

I’d fly into either Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi. Doesn’t matter much because you’ll want to see both cities. I realllllly like central Vietnam too and I recommend spending some time there, particularly in Hoi An and Hue. Take a flight from either Hanoi or HCM to Da Nang or Hue to get to these places. Cheap flights <$100 even last minute

My wife and I spent a month in Vietnam 6-7 years ago. I'm sure things have changed a bit since then, but here's my 2 cents...
Avoid the train, flying was just as cheap back then. We didn't enjoy the trains. They had long-distance buses back then as well which looked quite comfortable... almost lie flat seats.
In HCMC (Saigon), the war museum was quite good, albeit it a bit depressing, especially in the Agent orange section. But it gives a good perspective from the other side. Also, go eat banh cuon at Quan An Ngon restaurant if it's still around.
Hoi An is great... nice old village. Check when the lantern festival is. I'm told that the beaches in neighbouring Da Nang ate quite good as well.
If not, head to Nha Trang or Phu Quoc for beaches. The diving in Vietnam is pretty good as well.
Nothing in Hanoi really stood out to us, but it's a decently interesting big city with good food.
Sapa... if you've never seen rice fields, then it's worth going. Watch out for the Hmong villagers who will follow you around trying to sell you souvenirs.
Ha Long Bay... this was the highlight for us! Do a 2-night junk boat tour. Not just 1 night! 2 nights! Find a good operator, don't go cheap. Ours included a kayak excursion of some of the islands... be ready to paddle though!

Oh yeah, and Hue has some old tombs that are nice to visit... plus a good French bakery.

Halong Bay is really dirty and overcrowded with boats now. And those lie flat bases? You're laid out flat for the duration, there's no sitting up and they are not made for Western sized people.

Here's a list of places that I've been to. If you are not into moving a lot. Can always change the number of days. From north to south
9 days Hagiang loop - Consists of 3 main towns Dong Van, Meo Vac, and Cao Bang. (culture and nature). Hard to get around on buses. But great if you're on a motorbike or hire someone to take you around.
3 days Hanoi - Culture, old town, and cheap shopping
3 days Catba Island - alternative to Halong Bay, From here you'll be able to book a day tour to lan Ha Bay/Halong Bay.
2 days Sapa - culture, hiking
2 days Ninh Binh - This is like Halong Bay but on land.
3 days Phong Nha Kebang - Caves and outdoors
2 days Hue - Old Capital of Vietnam
3 days Hoi An - Old town (Unesco Site) Also best place to get cheap tailored clothing
2 days Dalat - Waterfalls, and nature
2 days Muine - Sand dunes and beaches
3 days Ho Chi Minh - Concrete Jungle
1 day Vung Tau - beach and Cristo like the one in Brazil
2 day Mekong delta tour - floating market

Go see
Kelvin Luong in Saigon. He works at Asian Link. Great group. Took us on a full day motorbike ride. It was so fun.

The cheapest cities to land from YVR are HCMC and Hanoi

It is the most amazing country. Watch for taxis some have very high rates. Fly into sgn airport. 1st quarter is where all the hussle and bussel is. I could talk for hours about Vietnam
but I hate typing so enjoy your trip
