Check with msp. If u leave bc for more than 7 months for vacation purposes it messes it up.
Laura
London drugs sells travel insurance

Call MSP first and ask about your provincial coverage overseas before doing anything else. You may be pleasantly surprised at the level of coverage you AUTOMATICALLY have as a BC resident.
Roberta
We get our travel insurance from Cooperators
Cathy
BCAA no matter what policy you get asked them what the maximum payout is. Most insurance companies only insure up to 1 million dollars. 10 days in intensive care and you would be out of money. Their goal is always to get you on a plane and fly you home as soon as possible. A flight recently from Alaska back to Vancouver was $200,000 for my relative. At times I buy a second insurance.

Call MSP to notify and check BCAA coverage

Check with your credit cards... many have insurance already included
Karen
Johnston Meier. $10 million in coverage, also includes trip delay if your flights delayed more than 4 hours you get reimbursed up to $750.
Ali
BCAA annual policy - good for 183 days of of Canada. And multi shorter trips
Chris
I can book for you. I have a license
Christin
Check with MSP before leaving for longer than 6 months as it can impact your medical coverage. Most insurance companies require that you have provincial medical coverage for their additional coverage to take effect. Have a great trip!

I know somebody that can help you. Let me know if you still haven’t found anybody

I like world nomads. Online. Never had to make a claim but it’s affordable and covers some things (cycling, hiking, horseback riding) that other insurers consider “adventure travel”.

I always used Travelguard. They were great.

Travel insurance is very unique to each individual situation! The trick is to find that product that matches your specific needs at a price you can live with. Identify specifically what risks you are trying to cover for your own unique circumstances (e.g., do you have elderly relatives, are you carrying expensive items in your luggage, will you be driving to the airport or taking a taxi?). If you are needing 'extra' medical coverage, search out the product that will cover what you might need and, if you are required to complete a medical questionnaire, find the one that best meets YOUR health profile, e.g., some policies penalize you if you take 3 or more medications while some others use 4, some policies won't cover you if you haven't seen a doctor in the past 2 years, some don't ask. If you are not sure about a question, contact the agent or the company. As difficult as it may be, spend the extra time to get the coverage this is right for YOU - not doing so could be financially disastrous! Also, we don't really know how good a travel insurance company is until we've had a claim!

I've bought travel insurance at a few different places...BCAA is my favourite.

If you are doing sporting activities BCAA covers many of them, we were surprised that some other companies don't.have the same coverage. If that is a concern I would check it out.

Planning a trip for 6-12 months in Australia and Europe is an exciting adventure. However, it's important to protect yourself with travel insurance in case of unexpected events.
Here are some recommendations for travel insurance:
- World Nomads: Offers comprehensive coverage for long-term travelers, including medical expenses, trip delays, and lost luggage.
- SafetyWing: Provides flexible and affordable coverage for short-term and long-term travelers, with options for individual and group plans.
- Allianz Travel Insurance: Offers a range of plans tailored to different trip types and budgets, including coverage for adventure activities and medical emergencies.
- AXA Travel Insurance: Provides comprehensive coverage for travelers of all ages, including families and seniors, with a variety of add-ons available.
- John Hancock Travel Protection: Offers a wide range of coverage options, including emergency medical evacuation, trip interruption, and lost baggage.
When choosing a travel insurance policy, consider the following factors:
- Coverage: Make sure the policy covers the activities you plan to engage in, such as adventure sports or medical expenses.
- Duration: Choose a policy that covers the entire duration of your trip, including any extensions.
- Destination: Some policies have restrictions on the countries or regions covered.
- Cost: Compare the premiums and deductibles of different policies to find the best value for your money.
Remember, travel insurance is an essential part of your trip planning. By purchasing a policy, you can protect yourself financially against unforeseen events and enjoy your adventure with peace of mind.
