Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on renting a portable wifi pocket for multiple places in Europe? Which services worked best and overall affordable price. ( I am not interested in purchasing a local sim)

If just for your phone contact your carrier. Just returned from Europe was $12/day with Koodo. Anytime we got to where there was free wifi I connected though. Depending on how long you are travelling might be just as cost as effective. Needed wifi for google maps and metro routes. Have a great trip

Maps.Me is an offline mapping app that worked very well for me in the Philippines and Vietnam. Much better than Google maps offline.

For maps, get Pocket Earth app. You don't need wifi. Your download you maps for offline use. It just uses your iPhone locator. I've used it in Europe, South Africa, Indonesia, Peru, Mexico and of course North America. It also has lots of travel info and Wikipedia info!

Just make sure you take your SIM card out... even if roam like home is on, if someone sends you an incoming text or call it’ll automatically turn on roam like home and you’ll get charged
I got rekt during my japan trip. Unless you have an iPhone and everyone you talk to has imsg, then you’ll be fine..

There are several companies that offer portable WiFi hotspot rentals for Europe travel. Here are some of the most popular options:

  • TravelWifi: TravelWifi offers pocket WiFi rentals in over 130 countries, including multiple European destinations. Their daily rental rates start from around $5-$7 per day, depending on the duration of your rental.
  • Skyroam: Skyroam is a well-known provider of portable WiFi hotspots. They offer unlimited data plans for Europe starting at around $9 per day, with discounts for longer rentals.

Tips for Renting a Portable WiFi Hotspot

Here are some tips to help you choose the best portable WiFi hotspot rental service for your Europe trip:

  • Compare prices: Compare the daily rental rates and any additional fees (such as shipping and insurance) from different providers to find the most affordable option.
  • Check coverage areas: Ensure that the provider you choose offers coverage in all the countries and cities you plan to visit in Europe.
  • Consider data limits: Some providers offer unlimited data plans, while others have data caps or charge for extra data usage. Evaluate your data needs and choose a plan accordingly.
  • Battery life: Look for a device with a long battery life to ensure uninterrupted internet access throughout your travels.
  • Ease of use: Consider the user-friendliness of the device and the provider's customer support services in case you encounter any issues.

By following these tips and comparing different providers, you can find an affordable and reliable portable WiFi hotspot rental service for your Europe travels, allowing you to stay connected without the need for a local SIM card.
