Has anyone flown with the Wayb Pico travel carseat? Thoughts?

Question:

Jena
We just used our Graco 4 in 1 for flights to and from the UK. It was definitely big, but it fit just fine. It can only be installed forward facing. The only thing was that the seatbelt sort of ended up right under the back cushion. The attendant gave us a little blanket for padding and our kiddo didn’t seem concerned, but worth noting. I’d highly recommend getting a backpack carry case for it though, otherwise it would be pretty cumbersome to carry around

Jena we're going to TO in Feb and Mexico in April so that's great! I was dreading the idea of another seat for travel, but our 2.5yo only weighs 23lbs so I definitely want him more secured for the longish flights, plus needing our seats when we're there!
We'll be sitting 3 in a row on their normal planes. Would I install him at the window?
Jena
Giselle We ended up doing middle on the way there and aisle on the way back, only because our four year old wanted the window. It didn’t seem to make a difference as to the seat fit though!
Giselle
Jena what about climbing around it for pee breaks
Jena
Giselle We were fortunate enough to be in the centre aisle for her seat, since it was a very big plane. That meant there was another side to the aisle haha. Probably best to do window seat if that won’t be the case!
Giselle
Jena ya, we'll be on normal 3-3 westjet planes for both trips I'm sure!
Glad to know the seat works.
Also, it can be installed rear facing, if you have other trips and needed it. The guideline for forward facing is that it can only be used in forward facing seats and not rear facing fight attendant seats or rear facing seats on private charters

Not sure on the size/age of your child, but one to check out for travel is the Cosco Scenera Next. It's super compact and lightweight, so very easy to travel with! Also, with a sale, it's regularly under $80
Giselle
Jennifer he's 2.5yo and only weighs 23lb
Just that we already have 3 carseats between us and grandma, and I don't want a 4th if I don't have to! I did find a used Cosco for $70 so may keep an eye for travel.
Where do you buy them for $80? The ones I found on one are around $120
Jennifer
I got mine off Amazon on sale for $60 I think. I've also seen them on sale at Walmart. I follow these guys on Facebook (their site has great info too), and they post the sales weekly

We bought the cosco seat in the US for $50 as a travel seat. Worth it for the weight. We have a munchkin brica smart mover trolley to roll it around the airport.
Giselle
Lisa I found seatbelt style straps that buckle the carseat to your hard shell suitcase for rolling!
Jennifer
Lisa mine fit perfectly under my stroller, so we lucked out!
Giselle
Jennifer I wasn't going to pack our stroller, and just bring my tula carrier
I'm crazy... but its only 4 days (including 2 travel) to TO for great grandmas 100th bday, and our rental is 3 blocks from her house.
I'm going to pack a small umbrella stroller only for Mexico cause I dont want to lug 10 humans worth of luggage
kids are so small but use so much stuff!
Jennifer
Giselle you are not crazy at all! I totally understand wanting to travel light.
Jessica
Definitely recommend getting a Seat cart if you’re not getting a travel seat. No luggage carts are allowed past security and you’ll have to carry your seat.
Giselle
Jessica Lawson I was actually going to get this strap. It wraps around your luggage and connects with the UAS, and the top tether on the seat hooks to a D ring through the top handle

Giselle interesting! Is it strong enough to let your kid ride in it when attached? Depending on the quality of your carryon suitcase it may also be hard to maneuver with the added weight of the seat alone.
Giselle
Jessica Lawson it's not a ride on, just so you dont have to carry it, and you'd have to tilt the suitcase for rolling, not upright, but still easier than wearing a car seat backpack!
Jessica
Giselle true enough!
Giselle
Jessica Lawson plus only $20 and sont have to stow the bag LOL
We gate checked our bucket carseat last time and it came out damaged with the bag ripped/cut. Airline offered us a $150 credit cause I didnt have the purchase receipt for both. Like who travels with their infant bucket seat receipt!
Not willing to gate check my Graco 4in1 but also dont trust rental company car seats!
Jessica
100%! I take the seat on board as well. I’ve been told they can be uninsurable once checked and it’s just not worth the potential consequences for my kid,
Or my wallet. Also nice to be able to keep them in their seat - my daughter sleeps well
In hers which makes for a more enjoyable everything!

Flying with Kids and Car Seats: Graco 4in1 and Wayb Pico
When it comes to air travel with little ones, having the right car seat can make a world of difference. In this blog post, we'll explore two popular options: the Graco 4in1 and the Wayb Pico travel car seat, sharing experiences and insights from fellow parents.
Graco 4in1 on WestJet
For those who have flown with the Graco 4in1 on WestJet, the question of space is a common concern. One parent shared their experience:
"I used the Graco 4in1 on a recent WestJet flight, and while it was a bit of a tight fit, we managed to make it work. The airplane seat was narrow, but the car seat fit securely. However, it did limit the legroom for the passenger in front, so it's essential to communicate with fellow travelers and flight attendants to ensure everyone's comfort."
Wayb Pico Travel Car Seat
The Wayb Pico travel car seat has gained popularity among jet-setting families for its compact and lightweight design. Here's what some parents have to say:
"The Wayb Pico has been a game-changer for our family travels. It's so easy to carry and install, and it doesn't take up too much space on the plane. We've used it on multiple airlines, and it has made our trips much more manageable."
"I absolutely love the Wayb Pico! It's incredibly convenient, and my toddler seems comfortable in it during flights. The only downside is that it's not suitable for extended use in a vehicle, but for air travel, it's perfect."
Renting Out the Wayb Pico
If you're a proud owner of the Wayb Pico and find yourself not needing it for a while, renting it out could be an option worth considering. One parent shared their thoughts:
"I would definitely be open to renting out my Wayb Pico when I'm not using it for travel. It's such a niche product, and renting it out could help offset the cost while providing a convenient solution for other families. Just make sure to have a clear rental agreement and proper cleaning procedures in place."
Whether you opt for the Graco 4in1 or the Wayb Pico, having the right car seat can make a significant difference in your travel experience with kids. Consider your specific needs, airline policies, and the feedback from fellow parents to make an informed decision.
