We are thinking about a winter all inclusive with my 1 year old and 6 year old.. has anyone travelled with young kids? Where should we go? What do you do at naptime? Do you trust the kids clubs? Thank you!

We went to Mexico. My kids wouldn’t do the kids club but nap time was hammock with either parent. We fought on who got to do nap time!

We took our 3 yr old and 5 yr old to Isla Mujeres last year and it was amazing! Plays Norte was very calm and water was crystal clear. Our kids are not big on waves so this was the reason we chose Isla. You can see fish in the waist deep water by Mia Reef hotel, kids don't even have to put their faces in the water!Rented golf carts to explore the island, small turtle rehab center, etc. We didn't use the kids club. The kids only napped a few times and it was on the beach bed. Great place and very relaxed!

I was not a fan of all inclusive with young kids... 3 meals a day in restaurants and no separate bedrooms usually. Some people like them, I much prefer condos. We have travelled to several countries with our children.

Umbrella stroller that lays down flat for nap time, in the shade around the pool. That's how our little ones so during the day. We bring extra kid snacks in our luggage as well.

Traveling with Young Kids: Tips and Destinations for a Winter All-Inclusive

Embarking on a winter all-inclusive vacation with young children can be both exciting and challenging. Proper planning and preparation are key to ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for the whole family. In this blog post, we'll explore some popular destinations, address common concerns, and share valuable tips for making the most of your winter getaway with little ones.

Choosing the Right Destination

When it comes to selecting a destination, consider the following factors:

  • Family-friendly resorts: Look for resorts that cater specifically to families with young children, offering kid-friendly pools, activities, and amenities.
  • Weather: Opt for destinations with mild winter temperatures, allowing for outdoor playtime and exploration.
  • Travel time: Keep flight times and travel logistics manageable for your children's attention spans.

Some popular winter all-inclusive destinations for families include:

  • Caribbean Islands: Destinations like Jamaica, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic offer warm weather, beautiful beaches, and family-friendly resorts.
  • Mexico: Riviera Maya and Cancun are known for their all-inclusive resorts, with plenty of activities and amenities for kids.
  • Hawaii: With its tropical climate and diverse range of activities, Hawaii is a fantastic winter getaway for families.

Nap Time and Kids' Clubs

Naptime can be a concern when traveling with young children, but many resorts offer solutions to accommodate this need.

  • In-room naps: Request a quiet room or suite, and let the front desk know about your child's nap schedule. They may be able to minimize noise and disturbances during those times.
  • Kids' clubs: Many resorts offer supervised kids' clubs or childcare services, allowing parents to enjoy some alone time while their children nap or engage in age-appropriate activities.

When it comes to kids' clubs, it's essential to do your research and ask questions about staff qualifications, child-to-staff ratios, and the overall safety protocols. While many parents trust these facilities, it's always a personal decision based on your comfort level and your child's needs.

Tips for Traveling with Young Kids

  • Pack their favorites: Bring along your child's favorite toys, books, and snacks to help them feel comfortable and familiar in a new environment.
  • Maintain routines: Try to stick to regular nap and bedtime schedules as much as possible to minimize disruptions.
  • Plan downtime: Schedule some quiet time in your room or at the resort for your children to recharge and avoid overstimulation.
  • Stay flexible: While routines are important, be prepared to adjust plans as needed based on your children's moods and energy levels.

Traveling with young children can be a rewarding experience, creating lasting memories and fostering a love for exploration. With proper planning, the right destination, and a bit of patience, your winter all-inclusive vacation can be a magical time for the whole family.
