This channel really helped me prep for my trip to Tokyo. He's pretty good and specific on places to go.
But yeah, hit up Asakusa is my recommendation.

I found the below website quite useful for my trip https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2164.html
April is the month for sakura, this website also shows you where to see it, and when it is in peak season (by each location)
You can consider to buy JR Pass, this will help you to save a lot of money for transportation if you travel much outside tokyo

Nikko and kamakura are interesting places and both are day trips by train from Tokyo. If you have the JR pass the train travel is covered.

I'll give a strong second to a day trip to Kamakura, especially when the craziness and crowds of Tokyo become overwhelming.

We stayed at Hotel Ann in Asakusa last month and it was amazing. The stores and markets around the temple were wonderful. We also preordered and picked up tickets for Studio Ghibli from JTB at Fairmont Vancouver. The Asahi HQ is nearby, close to the Tokyo Skytree and mall.
