Should I extend my business trip to Singapore by 3 days or go to Hong Kong for a stopover?

Hong Kong can be a bit of a shock if you’re used to clean BC air. It’s pretty disgustingly polluted there. I’d go with Singapore or consider something nicer like the islands of Malaysia (Langkawi) or Thailand. You should be able to get a cheap flight on air Asia from Singapore.
Ken
Thanks. I’ve experienced nasty air (and open sewer trenches
) in many places in the past. I’ve been to Malaysia (KL) and Langkawi before as well. I know Singapore is very clean, which is good.
Melissa
I've been to HK, not Singapore. HK was very blah. I think you should go with Singapore! Dawn is very right, air quality in HK is horrible
Timothy
curious to know why you might think it's blah, maybe I have to much birthtown pride lol
Melissa
LOL @Tim. I'm plain spoiled/Born/raised in Vancouver, where we have so much infinite SPACE, clean air, hiking, food etc. Over there, everything felt muted, dingy, dark and dirty? (Dilapidated condo skyscrapers everywhere). People were always in a nonstop rush
Melissa
Watched a few Singapore documentaries lately- looks far more intriguing
Timothy
Im born in Hong Kong, just came back from Singapore, depends how much time off you have on your four days in Singapore, you should definitely catch the night show at Marina Bay Sands and eat at the hawker centres for cheap and delicious food. Singapore might be good if you want to spend some time in the jungles where I saw lizard, boar, monkeys, fiddler crabs. Hong Kong has some really breathtaking hikes because it is quite mountainous, the hike up Lugard Road for what is probably the best city skyline panorama view in the world. The food is also top notch, different of course, but I have a feeling it will cost a little more. They will both have the bustle of an Asian metropolis, if you think you might get to see a lot of Singapore within the four days of the business trip, you should check out Hong Kong
Linda
Singapore is amazing
Martin
You say you’ve been to Singapore before... so my answer is Hong Kong 100%. There is far more to the place than many people think. Perfect for 3-4 days. Nowhere near as sterile as Singapore, and therefore a lot more interesting for a lot of travelers.

Go to Macau its amazing quick drive or boat ride away from hong kong and u will need a few days to see it all
Linda
I voted HKG because I have been and relatively easy to get around. But, I have not been to Singapore, it could be fun to revisit and compare from yr first trip
Mimi
If you happen to choose Singapore, book early especially if your business meeting/conferences are on Santosa Island and need to stay closer. But food is good almost anything you choose and the garden in the dome is breathtaking and the electronic mall ofcourse. Not sure about detail, but the self driving cars are on the road and you can ride them to certain destinations already.

Singapore or Hong Kong for a 3-day stopover?
I'm trying to decide whether to extend my 4-night business trip to Singapore by 3 days, or to go to Hong Kong for a 3-day stopover. I'm traveling solo and have never been to Hong Kong, but I have been to Singapore (15+ years ago).
Here are some factors to consider:
- Cost: Hong Kong is generally more expensive than Singapore, but there are ways to save money in both cities.
- Things to do: Both cities have a lot to offer visitors, but Hong Kong has a more vibrant nightlife scene and more cultural attractions.
- Food: Both cities have great food, but Hong Kong is known for its Cantonese cuisine.
- Transportation: Both cities have excellent public transportation systems, but Hong Kong's is more extensive.
Ultimately, the best decision for you will depend on your individual preferences and budget.
Singapore
Singapore is a clean, safe, and modern city with a lot to offer visitors. It's a great place to experience Southeast Asian culture and cuisine. Some of the top things to do in Singapore include:
- Visit the Gardens by the Bay
- Take a ride on the Singapore Flyer
- Explore the Chinatown and Little India districts
- Visit the National Museum of Singapore
- Go shopping on Orchard Road
Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a unique blend of East and West. It's a great place to experience Chinese culture and history. Some of the top things to do in Hong Kong include:
- Visit the Victoria Peak
- Take a ride on the Star Ferry
- Explore the Temple Street Night Market
- Visit the Hong Kong Museum of History
- Go shopping in Causeway Bay
Conclusion
Both Singapore and Hong Kong are great cities to visit. If you're looking for a more relaxed and laid-back experience, Singapore is a good choice. If you're looking for a more vibrant and cosmopolitan experience, Hong Kong is a good choice.
Ultimately, the best way to decide which city is right for you is to research both cities and see which one seems more appealing.
