Stayed one night in Pots Place at Macleay Serviced Apartments Hotel for $96 AUD over Christmas, and another night at the Mercantile hotel on the rocks (above an Irish pub right in the Rocks neighbourhood) for about $130.

We stayed at a Travellodge near Darling Harbour which was handy for most transport and also a short walk to Darling Harbour. Much better Travellodges than we have experience here in Canada.

Thank you. The availability is very limited and the prices are really high it seems. But we managed to book Novotel in Darling Harbour for CAD250/night. Thank you for everyone's suggestions.
