Hiking in June in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland. Any tips on non-touristy hikes, 4-6 hrs, moderate difficulty? Good trail books are hard to find, any links? Thanks!

I stayed in Lauterbrunnen when I went hiking there a few years ago. One of the hikes I did was the Faulhorn. I think it's around 6 hours. You just take the train to Schyinge Platte station to start.
I can't say it's 'non-touristy' as it's probably one of the 'must do' hikes in the area, but I don't remember the trail being crowded. Although I was there in September.

- If you zoom into the area around Interlaken, you'll see the icon for Schyinge Platte train station (Of the 3 stations shown, it's the middle one). The hiker icon to the NE is the Faulhorn hike.
- If you scroll to the east, you'll see some recommended day hikes that are likely to be less touristy
- If you're up for something pretty thrilling, look into the Via Faretta hike in Murren. At $25 to rent the harness, it's definitely the cheapest adrenaline rush I've ever had. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g188084...

Hiking in June in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland

If you're looking for non-touristy hikes in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland, there are plenty of options to explore. Here are some tips for hikes that are around 4-6 hours in duration and of moderate difficulty:

1. Lauterbrunnen to Mürren

This scenic hike takes you from the picturesque valley of Lauterbrunnen up to the charming village of Mürren. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls.

2. Grindelwald First to Bachalpsee

This hike starts at the First gondola station in Grindelwald and takes you to the beautiful Bachalpsee lake. The trail is well-marked and offers breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains.

3. Schynige Platte to Faulhorn

This challenging hike starts at the Schynige Platte mountain station and takes you to the summit of Faulhorn. The trail offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and is a great way to experience the alpine landscape.

As for trail books, one useful resource is the "Swiss Alpine Club" guidebooks, which provide detailed information on hiking routes in the region. You can find these guidebooks at local bookstores or online retailers such as Amazon.

Remember to check the weather forecast before setting out on your hike, and make sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Enjoy your hiking adventure in the Jungfrau Region!
