Carlsbad is a really cute beach town. There’s lovely cafes. We ate at Cicciotti’s (had to) for lunch and it was amazing

I really loved the Mexican food in old town San Diego. Especially these two restaurants: Miguel’s Cocina and Fred’s Mexican cafe. Also a lot of cute shops to look at and historic places to see as well. There’s also a lovely lady who makes authentic tortillas along the main strip they’re so good and fresh made to order.

As for activities you can rent a kayak or canoe in La Jolla point. Note it does get very choppy some days but if you’re lucky it won’t be so bad and you’ll get to go in the sea cave.

My sis lives in Mission Beach (south). A good place to hang out for a beach day, with plenty of shops & restaurants. There is also a bay there with calm water for swimming/activities.
