Just FYI, you only get a month tourist visa. Then you have to leave (although you can just hop to Singapore and turn around).
Sanur is great for kids because the beach isn’t surf and the town is walkable.

My cousin is there now with a 20 month old. They have been going for years. Usually rent a place with pool for several months and collect hotel fees from friends who visit. Seems to work.

Ubud is a good place to escape the heat and see the mountain Area. Try Gili Trewangan for easy beach Island. If you're interested in any other country, try Langwai in Malaysia. Malaysia is very family friendly and also very ecologically minded so many great Eco attractions. Also great health care.
