I'm thinking about traveling to Havana Cuba.
It's it safe to travel there? I DON'T want to do an all inclusive.
Does anyone have accomodation recommendations?

Havana has changed for the better since I was first there in 2005. It’s surprisingly quite nice now but still lots of work to be done on badly neglected infrastructure. Pick your hotel wisely and don’t go expecting Mexican resort type service standards.

Super safe, dont stay anywhere less than a 5 star
Yes the food selection is not as good as a Mexico all inclusive but I certainly didnt starve
I will go back for sure!

When I travelled to Havana Cuba we stayed at a “casa” - it’s a lovely experience where you have an opportunity to stay in someone’s home rather than a hotel!

I also stayed in Casa's for the three week trip all around Cuba that I did back in 2016. Most of them didn't speak English & I didn't speak a word on Spanish but it all worked out in the end!! It's a great experience, especially if you have one that cooks for you too!

I was just there in Oct and I did a Airbnb right in the city. Cuba is so safe to travel too and all inclusive is not the way to go for Cuba. I was in Old Havana and there’s lots of great restaurants to eat at the food was amazing, I eat like a Queen, lobster was my favorite:)

We booked a week with an all inclusive in Havana, as it was cheaper and then stayed in Casa's in all but the first and last night.

I just got home 2 weeks ago (from a 2 week Cuba trip). Stayed in central Havana by myself in casas 2 nights. I walked back and forth in the dark and felt quite safe. It’s known to be one of the safer countries you can travel in! (Of course you keep your eyes open anywhere you go)

Cuba is very safe, but that doesn’t mean to let go of your guard either. The people are lovely and the food is quite good. The only minor issue is that they can’t get all of the ingredients sometimes. For instance, you might order a burger, but they’re out of lettuce and tomatoes...minor in my opinion.
There’s some fantastic beaches about 15minutes East of Havana. You can take the hop on, hop off bus or taxi.
I can’t wait to go back and do some more exploring!
