Help! Mykonos or Crete? I'm starting in Santorini and finshing in Athens, but can't decide between the other two. I've heard Mykonos is gorgeous, but over priced, and I could get the same thing out of Crete. Any suggestions?

How did everyone get to/from Crete? Flights are a bit ridiculous to go from Santorini to Crete.

Crete has the Palace of Knossos archaeological site, so that would be a must for me.

If you can, work both Mykonos and Crete into your vacation. Mykonos is a gorgeous island to visit, you'll be in awe of it just as of Santorini. And Crete has so much history. Like Andrew said the palace of Knossos is a must see. When I visited Greece, I did a mini cruise to visit most of the islands and a separate land tour to visit the largest cities. I hope this helps.

Anyone have any other favourite Greek islands? Thoughts on Rhodes and Milos?

My husband & I spent 3 weeks on Milos a few years ago, having previously visited several other Greek Islands including Mykonos & Santorini. We absolutely loved Milos, it was much more affordable than the popular Greek islands & we went to a different beach every day! We would highly recommend this island to anyone looking for a less touristy destination.

Mykonos or Crete: Which Greek Island is Right for You?

You're starting your Greek adventure in Santorini and finishing in Athens, but can't decide between Mykonos and Crete for your next stop. Both islands are gorgeous, but they also have their own unique charms and drawbacks.

Mykonos

Mykonos is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant nightlife. It's a popular destination for celebrities and jet-setters, and prices can be high, especially during the peak season. However, there are also plenty of affordable options to be found, and Mykonos is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a glamorous and unforgettable vacation.

  • Pros: Beautiful beaches, clear waters, vibrant nightlife, luxurious amenities
  • Cons: Expensive, crowded, can be difficult to get around

Crete

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands, and it offers a wide variety of experiences, from stunning beaches and ancient ruins to charming villages and rugged mountains. It's a great destination for history buffs, nature lovers, and anyone looking for a more authentic Greek experience.

  • Pros: Diverse landscapes, affordable, less crowded, rich history
  • Cons: Fewer sandy beaches, less developed nightlife, can be difficult to get around

Which island is right for you?

Ultimately, the best way to decide between Mykonos and Crete is to consider your own interests and preferences. If you're looking for a glamorous and luxurious vacation, Mykonos is a great choice. If you're on a tighter budget and prefer a more authentic Greek experience, Crete is a better option.

No matter which island you choose, you're sure to have an amazing time in Greece!
