Where in the world would you go if you had one week (plus weekends) to travel? Travel would be late September or October. North America and the Carribean excluded please. Just my husband and I traveling!

Hmmmm only a week is tricky. I love visiting Japan but I'd say that's definitely best saved as a 2-week trip. UK or Europe could be nice. Maybe Spain or Italy?

Tokyo for a week and 2 weekends can be a nice deep dive into the city. I did it that way.

It can definitely be done, but for the price of the flight, I prefer getting more 'bang for my buck' and staying longer! Even after 2 weeks I feel like I'm barely scratching the surface of Japan. There's so much to see!!

Italy
did Rome/Venice in 7 days and it was a great paced trip. If you focus on 1-2 cities you can really get a feel for them in that time

I just did an Amalfi coast tour, left on Saturday and got back on Sunday. I of course would have stayed for longer but it was very doable, and just enough relaxing/exploring time.

I am from Croatia. And October weather can be really nice. Not to hot. Not sure which part of Croatia you want to go and visit? In land Zagreb? Or coast more south like Dubrovnik?

London, Paris, Malta, Portugal. Caution: if you are looking at beach locations many close up for winter in late September unless you stick to real touristy spots.

Scotland is beautiful in October with all the autumn colour (we were even lucky enough to get sunny days for a whole week), and you'll have the chance to visit The Enchanted Forest, which is fantastic. https://www.enchantedforest.org.uk

One Week Travel Destination: Exploring the Enchanting Landscapes of New Zealand

If you had one week (plus weekends) to travel with your husband during late September or October, the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand would make for an unforgettable adventure. This island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean is renowned for its diverse natural beauty, from pristine beaches and towering mountains to lush rainforests and geothermal wonders.

New Zealand Landscape

The stunning landscapes of New Zealand will leave you awestruck.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1-2: Auckland

Kick off your adventure in Auckland, the vibrant city known as the "City of Sails." Explore the bustling waterfront, visit the iconic Sky Tower, and indulge in the city's thriving culinary scene. Consider taking a day trip to the nearby Waiheke Island, famous for its vineyards and beaches.

Day 3-4: Rotorua

Head to Rotorua, a geothermal wonderland renowned for its bubbling mud pools, geysers, and Māori culture. Take a guided tour of the geothermal parks, experience a traditional Māori village, and enjoy a rejuvenating soak in the natural hot springs.

Day 5-6: Queenstown

Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, awaits you next. Surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and crystal-clear lakes, this picturesque town offers a plethora of outdoor activities. Embark on a scenic hike, go bungee jumping (if you dare!), or take a cruise across Lake Wakatipu for breathtaking views.

Day 7-8: Milford Sound

No trip to New Zealand is complete without a visit to the majestic Milford Sound. This fjord in the southwest of the South Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a true natural marvel. Take a boat cruise to witness the towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and perhaps spot some wildlife like seals or dolphins.

With its diverse landscapes, rich culture, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventures, New Zealand promises an unforgettable experience for you and your husband. Late September or October is an ideal time to visit, with milder temperatures and fewer crowds, allowing you to truly immerse yourselves in the beauty of this remarkable country.

Start planning your New Zealand adventure today and get ready to create lasting memories in one of the world's most scenic destinations!
