Those of you who are skiers...have you been to Japan to ski and if yes, where did you stay?

Skied in Hakuba last month. 6/7 mountains all combined and great runs for all levels. The town has a plethora of options to stay depending on time of year and budgets. I booked the Hakuba lodge last minute and it was ok for the price we paid.

Hawkins is great, it’s got fantastic runs, and there are quite a few decent lodgings. I’ve spent a lot of time there. It’s relatively easy to get to from Tokyo or Nagoya.

It’s on my bucket list, and here is an article this week that pushes it to the top of that list:

Cristina Nice try to get to cherry blossoms while skiing, but I am going for japow (Japanese powder) and seeing the car burried in it, which will not happen during blossoming

My Skiing Adventure in Japan

As an avid skier, I've always dreamed of skiing in Japan. The country is renowned for its stunning mountains, abundant snowfall, and world-class ski resorts. So, last winter, I finally made my dream a reality.

I spent two weeks exploring the slopes of Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. I skied at several resorts, including Niseko, Furano, and Kiroro. Each resort had its own unique character and charm, but they all offered incredible skiing.

The snow in Hokkaido is some of the best in the world. It's light and fluffy, making it perfect for carving turns. I also loved the scenery. The mountains are cubiertos de nieve, and the forests are blanketed in a thick layer of powder.

In addition to the skiing, I also enjoyed the Japanese culture. The people are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I especially loved the hot springs, which are a great way to relax after a day on the slopes.

If you're a skier, I highly recommend visiting Japan. It's truly a winter wonderland.

Where I Stayed

I stayed at a variety of hotels and guesthouses during my trip. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Niseko Hilton: This is a luxury hotel located in the heart of Niseko Village. It offers spacious rooms, a beautiful spa, and several restaurants.
  • Furano Prince Hotel: This is a large resort hotel located near Furano Ski Resort. It offers a wide range of amenities, including an indoor water park, a bowling alley, and a karaoke lounge.
  • Kiroro Resort: This is a secluded resort located in the mountains of Hokkaido. It offers a variety of lodging options, including chalets, condos, and hotel rooms.
