Anywhere along Highway 3 (Hope to Osooyos) is great, lots random spots to sleep and easily accessible rivers/lakes. Then you get to explore the Okanagan Valley
Edit: Then once you did the valley, up north of Vernon is Salmon Arm with a magestic lake surrounded by cliffs. From there you can either go east towards Banff or west towards Kamloops/Vancouver

Annette totally agree - we stay at totem motel (has suites and a pool) regularly. They're following covid protocol too!

Try Wrights beach on Skaha. They rent trailers right on the lake.

Exploring BC on a Family Road Trip

If you're looking to explore British Columbia on a 5-7 day road trip with your family, lake hopping is a great idea! Whether you choose to travel in an RV or a car and stay in cabins, there are plenty of beautiful spots to visit. Since you mentioned that you need easily accessible spots to swim with short walks due to an injured foot, I have some recommendations for you.

Itinerary Recommendation:

Day 1: Start your trip in Vancouver and head to Cultus Lake. Enjoy a day of swimming and relaxing by the water.

Day 2: Drive to Harrison Hot Springs and spend the day soaking in the natural hot springs and swimming in the lake.

Day 3: Make your way to Shuswap Lake and explore the various beaches and swimming spots along the shoreline.

Day 4: Continue your journey to Okanagan Lake and visit popular beaches like Gyro Beach in Kelowna.

Day 5: Head to Kalamalka Lake for its crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, perfect for swimming and relaxing.

Day 6: Drive to Christina Lake and spend the day swimming and picnicking at Texas Point Beach.

Day 7: End your trip at Cultus Lake Waterpark for some family fun before heading back to Vancouver.

Favorite Lake Hopping Spots:

  • Cultus Lake
  • Harrison Hot Springs
  • Shuswap Lake
  • Okanagan Lake
  • Kalamalka Lake
  • Christina Lake

These spots offer beautiful scenery, easy access to the water, and short walks for those with mobility issues. I hope you have a wonderful road trip exploring the lakes of British Columbia!
