If you change your mind and want sushi instead, Iwasa Sushi by the Tsukiji Fish Market is a hidden gem. Usually no lineups (unlike the other sushi places there). And there's a chicken place right by it that is also delicious (oyakodon is their specialty). The pork restaurant by there was also recommended to me but I didn't have time to try it.

It depends which airport you go from - Narita Airport (NRT) is outside of the city and requires a 1 hour bus/train ride to get into Tokyo itself, just keep that in mind, Haneda Airport (HND) is located within the city though.

thanks Alex we ll go fr NRT , last time we did that and took a more or less 1.5hr bus into Tokyo. Basically this will still leave us 5hrs to wander in Tokyo

Hi all, mid-Sep on our way back to Calgary from Vietnam we will have a 9hours layover in Tokyo. Do you have any recommendation for best / must try restaurants for LUNCH that serve good beef and/or unagi? I think we can do up to $200 per person but not more than that, unless the experience/food really worths it. We were in Japan for a week two years ago and absolutely love the cuisine, but have been having a hard time trying to find a good lunch experience, most of them either require a reservation made by your hotel or potential long line-up.... Thanks all !!
