Either g adventures or intrepid travel. Both great for small group adventure travel.

If you end up taking the plunge and opting out of doing a tour - I'm happy to offer any advice/information as a single white female who spent 4 months in India. Either way, you will come out of it at the other end with some unforgettable experiences
Otherwise, I did use G Adventures when trekking in Nepal and can highly recommend them as a company.

Planning my First Trip to India!

As a solo traveler, I have decided to explore the vibrant and diverse country of India. To ensure a smooth and enriching experience, I am considering going with a tour group. However, I still want to maintain a sense of authenticity and immerse myself in the local culture.

Recommendations for Guided Tours in India

When it comes to finding a tour group that can offer an authentic experience while providing the necessary support and guidance, there are a few key factors to consider:

  1. Local Expertise: Look for tour groups that are led by knowledgeable guides who have a deep understanding of the local culture, history, and customs.
  2. Small Group Size: Opt for tours that have a limited number of participants to ensure a more personalized experience and better interaction with the guide.
  3. Off-the-Beaten-Path Itineraries: Choose tour groups that offer unique and less touristy routes to discover hidden gems and experience the authentic side of India.

Top Tour Groups for Authentic Experiences in India

Based on recommendations from fellow travelers and online reviews, here are a few tour groups that are known for providing authentic and immersive experiences in India:

  • Intrepid Travel: Known for their small group tours and sustainable travel practices, Intrepid offers a variety of trips in India that focus on cultural immersion and local interactions.
  • G Adventures: With a strong emphasis on responsible travel and community engagement, G Adventures offers unique tours in India that allow travelers to connect with the local communities.
  • Exodus Travels: Specializing in adventure and cultural tours, Exodus Travels provides off-the-beaten-path itineraries in India that cater to travelers seeking authentic experiences.

Before making a decision, I recommend researching each tour group, reading reviews, and contacting them directly to inquire about their itineraries and travel philosophy. By choosing a tour group that aligns with your interests and values, you can ensure a memorable and authentic experience in India.
