We went to Cuba the last week of may in 2015. It called for rain the whole week. We didn't see one drop. The weather couldn't have been better. Family back home said the weather channels called for Thundershowers the whole time we were gone and were surprised to see us with such great tans when we returned!

Island weather can be funny. You can get thunderstorms and rain around the tops of the inland mountains/hills and sun along the coast line. I think this is why you will see forecasts for rain when it is sunny down on the beaches.

Jamaica is great in May. We went a couple years back to Ochos Rios and we're heading back this May to Negril. The people are awesome and it's not that busy on the island at that time

As well flights are relatively cheap right now. Wife and I booked for about $1400 through Toronto with AC. They have a stopover program where you can get a big discount on overnight in Toronto area.

We went to Jamica Negril last May, every morning and afternoon were hot and sunny and every evening a warm thunderstorm rolled in. We enjoyed both forms of weather it was always warm and tropical storms are amazing to watch. Most resorts have covered and indoor restaurants so the evening showers never bothered us. Very often it would rain for 2 or 3 hours max then the storm rolled pass and the skies were clear again. I would definitely recommend Jamica to anyone in May.
