We went on a week cruise with Sail Croatia and it was phenomenal! 35 ppl on board. If you're going to Dubrovnik, make sure you take the cable car up the mountain and make a reservation at the Panorama restaurant. It over looks King's Landing and the Mediterranean.
Take a day tour of Krka National park and go swimming in the water falls. It's about an hour from Split.

I really disliked Dubrovnik, and Split was meh, imo. Bol, on the other hand, was gorgeous.

Kate Willy agree 100%!

We just travelled for two weeks in Croatia and by far the best place was Plitvice National Park. Just loved it. Go really early or late but it is amazing. Loved Zagreb and Rovinj and Hvar and Korvula the best!
Anda
Go to island Pag! If you love cheese
Deanne
Don’t miss Pag and Rovinj

Take lots of cash. Most places do not accept debit or credit cards. Expensive for what it has to offer.

Anyone have recommendations for accommodations travelling towards Hvar and Split?
Marion
Plitvice National Park and Krka National Park!
Split and Dubrovnik are beautiful cities!
As for accommodation we used booking.com and found their fees a lot less than airbnb or vrbo. Enjoy Croatia!

Exploring Croatia in Mid-September
Croatia is a beautiful country located in Southeastern Europe, boasting a breathtaking Adriatic coastline, lush islands, and a rich cultural heritage. Mid-September is an ideal time to visit as the crowds have thinned, the weather is still pleasant, and the prices are often lower than during the peak summer months.
Dubrovnik
No trip to Croatia is complete without visiting the iconic city of Dubrovnik. Its Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see with its imposing stone walls, narrow streets, and charming squares. Take a leisurely stroll along the city walls, offering stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and the terracotta rooftops. Don't miss the opportunity to walk the Stradun, the main street, and explore the hidden alleyways and cafés.
Split
Split, the second-largest city in Croatia, is a vibrant coastal destination with a rich history. The centerpiece of the city is the Diocletian's Palace, a magnificent Roman ruin that has been beautifully preserved and now houses shops, restaurants, and residences within its ancient walls. Stroll along the Riva promenade, explore the bustling Pjaca Square, and soak in the lively atmosphere.
Plitvice Lakes National Park
If you're seeking a natural wonder, make a day trip to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning turquoise lakes and cascading waterfalls. The park offers well-marked trails that wind through the lush forests and allow visitors to appreciate the incredible beauty of this natural wonder.
Hvar Island
For a taste of island life, consider visiting the gorgeous Hvar Island, known for its picturesque towns, lavender fields, and excellent wine. Explore the charming town of Hvar, with its impressive Renaissance-era architecture, or relax on the beautiful beaches of Stari Grad or Jelsa.
Local Cuisine
No visit to Croatia would be complete without indulging in the local cuisine. Be sure to try the delicious seafood, such as grilled fish, shrimp, and squid, as well as traditional dishes like pašticada (beef stew), peka (meat or vegetables cooked under a bell-like cover), and strukli (cheese-filled pastry). Don't forget to sample the excellent Croatian wines, particularly those from the Istrian and Dalmatian regions.
With its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and excellent food and wine, Croatia promises an unforgettable experience in mid-September. Enjoy your time in this remarkable country!
