Hello my people, my friend and I are traveling to Tokyo, Japan for 3 nights and visiting Mount Fuji as a day trip during the 3 night’s stay. We are then heading to Okinawa, Japan for 6 nights. We then spend 6 nights in Bangkok, Thailand. We also have a 12 hour layover in Manila, Philippines in which we want to do something for the day close to the airport. In each of these places what are some things we must see or visit given the amount of time in each?

We just got back from Thailand.....in my opinion 6 nights in Bangkok is way too much....we felt 2-3 nights was certainly enough....way too busy and crowded for our liking....try a few nights in Chaing Mai instead.... spend a day with the elephants

Agree. If you haven't booked accommodations yet, don't stay in Bangkok for more than 2 nights. Koh Samui is a short flight away and is nice. Koh Phangan is amazing and right beside Samui. Go up the west coast of Phangan for nicer beaches and water.

We just came back from Japan. We were in Tokyo and Okinawa.
Since your timing is short in Tokyo, we do recommend visiting the Senso-ji temple.

Loved Chiang Mai too! You must climb the Buatong Falls! Chiang Mai was my favourite. But while you’re in Bangkok, you have to go to the Grand Palace and ride the river boat. Don’t take the tourist boat that is 100 Bhat. the local boat is something like 3 bhat.
I also really enjoyed visiting the 24 hour flower market late at night.

When are you heading to Okinawa? Sakura is in full bloom right now!
I'd be sure to try Okinawa food while you are there, because you'll probably never be able to find them anywhere else. Not even in mainland Japan.

It will be typhoon season in Okinawa at that time of year. Keep that in mind for potential travel disruptions

Not far from Bangkok is Hua Hin a gorgeous beach town with a great night market. You can catch a water taxi near there to get to Koh Tao for amazing diving. Ayutthaya is an ancient capital and cultural hub of Thailand also not too far from Bangkok: stunning bike rides between ruins and meals near the river. Kanchanaburi is where the Bridge Over the River Kwai is located and is near the original Tiger Temple. Domestic flights are affordable in Thailand. I’d personally do Chiang Rai over Chiang Mai if you have a few days. Less touristy. Lots of local gemstones available if you find a source you can trust.
In Japan do not miss having an onsen (hot spring) experience. You should have no trouble finding options near Mt. Fuji.

In Tokyo go outside of Shinjuku station, fish market but food is expensive at fish market, messy crossing, for view of Tokyo go to Observation desk on metropolitan building, emperor palace. Check weather before going to Mount Fuji if it is cloudy than don’t make 2 hour one way trip you won’t be able to see mountain. Enjoy it’s beautiful and cleanest city with amazing people

Great feedback so far everyone definitely making some changes and won’t be spending all 6 nights in Bangkok going to fly into Phuket and finish in Bangkok since that is where our flight back to Toronto departs before our stop over in the Philippines. Will I need any vaccines for Thailand ?

Tokyo go to seso-ji temple....,also book the free walking tour (night life). Very interesting and you will be able to easily navigate through the craziness of Tokyo. Enjoy my Fuji it s beautiful there. Also try onsen....amazing experience!
Bangkok 6 nights is too much in my opinion....maybe 2 or 3 at most....visit the temples.
Koh Chang not so far from there is nice, can take bus 6 hrs or fly into tray airport and than ferry. Koh Tao Koh Samui are also nice....more party places.....or like someone said go north to Chang Mai.
Some south parts of Phuket are also nice....
When in Tokyo I rented an air bnb near senso- ji, was great because later in the day it gets crazy busy there....was nice to visit when not busy or walking through it at night time...(the air bnb I was at closed down which is too bad was so great but am sure there are plenty)

Depending on what time you arrive in Manila, traffic may will really limit you. I would stick to Makati/BGC and give plenty of time to get back to the airport. Agreed 6 nights in bankok is a lot! Check out Kouri Bridge in Okinawa if you get the chance.
