Morocco or Greece? We were in Portugal in January/February and it was in the high teens low 20s every day, quite nice and different from Alberta! We were also in Iceland around the same time, and it was warmer there than in Edmonton as well, 10 degrees to about minus 2 at the coldest...but WINDY!! I don't know if I would recommend it to everyone.
Nadine
We honeymooned in Croatia. Dubrovnik is incredible and lovely, with easy access to some nearby islands. We went in September and it was warm enough to swim, but I'm not sure how the weather would be in January.
Tanya
Even the south of Europe won't be "warm". Spain and Portugal would have temps in the teens. What about routing through Florida or Texas? They aren't exactly honeymoon destinations, but I'm sure you could have a nice trip.
Katie
Not sure if you'd want to go to Florida or Texas as they are flooding atm...
Trudy
It's not fun honeymooning in the aftermath of a massive hurricane. Construction noise, demolition noise, people shouting instructions. Yah no.
Melissa
For what it's worth, I have family in Houston and there's still lots that wasn't/isn't currently affected by the flooding. The media only reports the worst and makes it sound really bad. So don't discount it just from what you've seen on the news.
Katie
Very true that media will do that. Like every place just research were you goin+
Deanna
YES!! It's close to Spain/portugal and it's warmer...
Morocco! Imagine getting lost in a beautiful maze of colours and smells, filled with colourful mosaic and tasty dishes.
They have gorgeous beaches, high mountains, and they have the Sahara desert.
I loved it there, and the Canadian dollar goes far!
Michelle
There isn't really anything warm on the way home, unless you go to the Caribbean islands. I know you said not Spain or Portugal, but they are beautiful and you'd get warmer temps in the south. Southern Italy, Greece and Malta are all on my travel list. Iceland is also gorgeous, but it's not a warm honeymoon.
Dominiqu
Madeira maybe? The Azores? There isn't much en route with warm weather I'm afraid. We got married in Ireland too and honeymooned in Rome.
Deanna
Another suggestion I have is Croatia. It's where game of thrones is filmed and it has Caribbean like beaches and delicious seafood. It's pretty cheap compared to Canadian prices, and you get that European feel.
Not as warm as morocco though
Lorrie
Yes Malta is beautiful. We spent 3 weeks there two years ago. Very inexpensive.
Tanya
You could also embrace winter and head north to Lappland or Iceland.
Kiefer
Phuket Thailand! Flights from Edmonton are about 1100 bucks. Go see some elephants and beautiful weather
Toni
New Orleans is a fun place....
Tina
From Ireland you get good prices to Marocco,Italy, south of France. Very cheap.
Alia
French Riviera? Greece?
Liz
Malta?
