A few buddies and I are planning a trip to oktoberfest late September. We were hoping to head north after a few days in Munich and check out Norway/Sweden/Denmark. any recommendations on what cities to check out? Looking for something with a decent night life as well as sightseeing. Got about 10-12 days after Munich.

Austria is a couple hour drive or less from the Munich area.

I know some ppl who have been to Denmark and liked it but I lived there for six months and did not. If you're going in the summer, the ocean might be nice to check out. We were in Stockholm this past spring and it was nice but nothing to write home about! I would personally stick with Austria! The mountainous views are beautiful, ppl are friendly, there are thermal baths, and the Swarovski musuem was amazing (not what you think, it was mostly huge art displays with light and reflection tricks)!

If you head to Copenhagen you can cross the channel and go to Malmo Sweden. We were in both cities for World Junior Hockey. They are great places with lots to see.

Lots to see and do within a few hours by rail fringe Munich, such as: Austria ( innsbruck, Salzburg and all the way to Vienna), Italy (venice and Milan), Switerland or go a bit north in Germany to Berlin or into the Czech Republic to Prague. All within a days train ride from Munich...and I forgot the east side of France too.

If you want some amazing night life, take a 6 hour train ride to Budapest! Drinks and food are cheap, and the ruin pubs are awesome!
