Cabo is not really the destination for quiet beach , you can’t swim really at any beach . The paradisus Cabo is really the only beach as it’s in a small cove . The ocean is very dangerous with under tow in Cabo
Diana
Colleen they just like playing in the sand rather than swim in the ocean.

Paula are there any adults only?
Paula
No, just one big pool.
Diana
Paula not sure whether to stay in Sam Jose or Cabo as we haven’t been before
Judy
Diana be sure to research if you are a water person as the sea is dangerous even when walking on sandy beaches. NEVER turn your back to the water. We are beach people and were mad at our TA for sending us here after what we read.
Diana
Judy thanks for the info!

Diana . Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas is very swimmable as is Santa Maria and Chilleno on the corridor between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. I’ve been to the area 16x and up to a month at some periods. Never done AI as the downtown core of Cabo San Lucas is compact and loaded with very good restaurants. We usually go on airbnb to find accommodations. Marina Sol condos is a great place to stay. It’s got a great pool, a couple restaurants and 1-2 blocks from Medano Beach( swimmable beach). San Jose del Cabo is a quieter more laid back town but the only swimmable beach there is Palmilla a little bit outside the town ( north). . I have a TS condo in San Jose on the beach and there are red flags always there. It’s not safe to swim
Paula
DEFINITELY San Jose 10000% imo. We drove to Cabo for the day and it was a tourist nightmare, being approached for excursions and food/drinks every five steps, super crowded. It was not our scene. San Jose was a beautiful little town with cobble streets and amazing restaurants/art shows etc. It was night and day.

I agree with Paula. Loved San Jose del Cabo - did not like Cabo itself at all.

SJDC is WAY better than Cabo. No real swimmable beaches in Cabo other than right by the marina. And that’s public so all the locals go there too.

Sonja
Rebekah I second this!! Just got back from there and would return in a heartbeat. Loved the staff, food, kids play area/waterslides, free kid camp, and so much more!

We spend 4-6 weeks in San Jose del Cabo every year. As others have said, the beaches are really not swimmable.
Look at vrbo - Club La Costa for condo rentals. It’s a nice complex walking distance from the beach (for sand play) and grocery/ convenience stores/pharmacies. It has several pools and is adjacent a golf course as well.

Playita just outside of San Jose del Cabo has a wonderful calm beach by the El Ganzo hotel. The #5 bus will take you there from hotel zone in town. Playa Palmilla is also a beautiful swimmable beach with white sand and crystal clear water. A short uber ride from San Jose hotel zone.
