japan-guide.com is the best for planning a Japan trip. Tells you what to do in most places you'd want to visit, and amazingly clear transport instructions.
I spent a month there. So many amazing places but if I had to pick one not-so-obvious place to visit, I'd recommend Koyasan. Stunning place and just super interesting.

Definitely try to get over to Hiroshima for a few days if you have the time, apart from the obvious reasons, there are plenty of other day trips and things to do there too

Google '100 things to do in Japan' or same for Tokyo, and just pick through them what appeals to you. There's also Tokyo Cheapo if you're on a tight budget.

Which parts of Japan are you going? From the top of my head.. Robot restaurant in Tokyo, stay in a hot spring resort, wagyu beef in Kobe

YouTube "begin japanology" - great series with literally everything you need for Japan - I'd definitely check out Tokyo and then make my way south to Okinawa as well - just to check out the tropical side of Japan - cheers dude

Make sure you go to Kyoto. Two or three full days is about the right length of time.

Japan is a fascinating country with a rich culture, stunning natural beauty, and vibrant cities. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, there's always something new to discover. Here are some must-see attractions and activities to consider during your 3-week trip to Japan.
Tokyo
As the capital of Japan, Tokyo is a bustling metropolis that offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Here are some highlights you shouldn't miss:
- Senso-ji Temple: This ancient Buddhist temple is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular attractions. Explore the temple grounds, browse the shops along Nakamise-dori, and experience the vibrant atmosphere.
- Shibuya Crossing: Often referred to as the "Times Square of Tokyo," the famous Shibuya Crossing is a must-see spectacle where thousands of pedestrians cross the intersection simultaneously.
- Tsukiji Fish Market: Experience the lively atmosphere of one of the world's largest fish markets. Arrive early to witness the tuna auction and savor some of the freshest sushi and seafood.
Kyoto
Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan, is renowned for its beautiful temples, shrines, and traditional architecture. Some must-visit places include:
- Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine: This iconic shrine is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that wind through the forested hills.
- Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion): This stunning Zen temple is covered in gold leaf and surrounded by tranquil gardens.
- Arashiyama Bamboo Grove: Stroll through the picturesque bamboo grove and experience the serene beauty of this natural wonder.
Mount Fuji
No trip to Japan is complete without witnessing the majestic beauty of Mount Fuji, Japan's highest mountain and an iconic symbol of the country. Consider taking a day trip or staying overnight in the area to fully appreciate the breathtaking views.
Hiroshima and Miyajima Island
Hiroshima is a city with a sobering history, but it also offers beautiful attractions like the Peace Memorial Park and the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome. From Hiroshima, take a short ferry ride to the picturesque Miyajima Island, where you can explore the famous floating torii gate and the Itsukushima Shrine.

In addition to the iconic sights, immerse yourself in Japanese culture by attending a traditional tea ceremony, participating in a calligraphy or origami workshop, or experiencing a kaiseki (multi-course) meal. These experiences will provide you with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan's rich heritage.
Remember, Japan is a vast and diverse country, and these are just a few highlights. Take the time to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations, interact with locals, and create your own unforgettable memories. Enjoy your
