airalo Esim Is the way to go,I’m currently using it in London. It’s excellent and I highly recommended it.

i use airalo as well. Easy. Cheap. Used in Italy this summer, used in US all the time as well. Just turn off data on primary, and good to go

I used airalo e-sim in Malaysia and it worked great. They didn’t have a plan for Singapore, so I bought one through Nomad, which also worked perfectly.
Not sure if airalo has e-sim that covers multiple countries in South America, but it’s definitely worth it to look into it

eSIM sounds like the way to go but you won't belive what Bell (virgin) just told me, they said I would have to also enable roaming on their network for eSIM to work. Are they lying to me?

Steve they’re lying. You can turn off your data on primary. But phone # won’t work if you need to call. But I use whatsapp to make calls when I use an esim

Uyen Hang in Mexico you can get a SIM card with telcel at the OXO. They start at 100 pesos (around 7 $cdn) for a week and that is unlimited calls and text messages to canada US and within mexico. But only 500 mg of data. Then after first week go to oxo again and top up for the next 3 weeks. Easy.

Over Christmas and New Year's I was in Mexico and purchased a telcel sim card from Oxxo ...it cost me about $16 Canadian for 30 days of unlimited calls and Text, and 3 GB of Data (Unlimited Friends Package 200)... Better than $15 a day from Telus

In terms of physical SIM cards, a combination of claro and movistar might cover 3 of the countries.
Colombia: claro
Panama: claro, movistar or Movil
Guatemala: Tigo
Mexico: telcel is best, but movistar may be adequate
The U.S. will be something like T-Mobile or AT&T.
You can buy 'world wide' sim cards that work in 160+ countries, but you're usually paying a premium for the convenience. (skyroam, knowroaming, keepgo are 3 popular ones).

If your phone supports e-SIMs, it can be a lot more convenient for multiple countries. airalo is the most popular option.
