https://www.liaofanhawkerchan.com/locations hawker Chan got his Michelin star in 2016 and lost it in 2021…not sure of that was COVID related or something else. But it’s probably the cheapest Michelin star quality meal you’ll ever have!

Not sure if it’s still there - lived in Singapore 20 years ago- but you should go for seafood at the East Coast Seafood Centre. Chili crab. Pepper crab. Delish! And definitely try the chicken rice. That was my favourite.

Din Tai Fung — v best xiao long bao. There are several in Singapore, so they’re hard to miss…which doesn’t mean they taste like they’re production-line made. In fact every Din Tai Fung has kitchens that are visible to customers, to watch the well orchestrated chaos there. You can find DTF in Malaysia, Thailand, China (even though it’s Taiwanese) +++ and…in the US. Look forward to them someday opening a restaurant in YVR. *i have no business connection to DTF. This review is from a mighty satisfied customer.

We take special weekend trips to Seattle from van isl just for DTF. First time was Singapore now I’m hooked.

Yes one downtown one at the university village and one in Bellevue. Been to the one down town and Bellevue a couple times. Since covid we have not been able to go and enjoy the best dumplings ever. My dream would be to open one in Vancouver. I guarantee it would be very successful. Also been to the one in Tokyo but got take out and when we got outside we then realized the take out in Japan was frozen so you eat it when you got home. We were disappointed.

I can understand how that would have been super disappointing. Frozen takeaway

And if youre up for an island adventure Tioman island (Malaysia) is not very far away…and beautiful! Well worth it if you have the time. Malaysia is one bridge away — literally.
