Bain’s travel in Vancouver did a great trip for us
Gloria
Was it a tour or just custom for two of you? Travelling solo is a lot more expensive, typically.
Dorothy
Gloria we were a group of eight and they arranged driver and hotels.
Gloria
Thanks Dorothy. That's a small group size. I'd like that.

I went with G Adventures and had a great experience
Judy
We used Explore India in Vancouver, and they were amazing.
Gloria
Was a tour? Sounds like you weren't travelling solo.
Judy
Yes it was a tour.
Gloria
Judy these are luxury tours so not my budget at all.
Sindy
Wow look at those prices, the tour better be great. Based downtown they probably pay high rent
...I used a Delhi based company a few times for friends and myself.. customized private tour ie a car (2 people) and driver, medium class hotels (heritage in Jaipur) travel Delhi - Jaipur-Agra (golden triangle) and back to Delhi/airport for Cdn$800-3,500 (depending on days and hotel chosen). Airport transfer is about Cdn15-25 with tour.

Breathedreamgo.com Canadian Mariellen Ward has tiger tours in India if you are interested. She recently moved there after travelling extensively in India for 12 years. She has recommendations for a homestay in Delhi as well as other travel info for eco and sustainable travel.
Gloria
I was just reading about her. Sounds great but she has a different emphasis from what I've read.
Claire
I just heard about this guy from a blog I follow.

Gloria
I'll have a look, thank you!

I had a great experience with G Adventures
I did this trip because it covered everything I wanted to see (and then stayed in Goa for a week on my own after)! I was a solo female and really liked being part of a group and not worrying about having to organize anything! And I made some great friends.
https://www.gadventures.com/.../uncover-india-delhi.../AHUH/ They have different tours for different age groups/interests.
Tony
For a cheaper alternative to G Adventures I'd go with Indiasomeday.com. (https://indiasomeday.com/en/). They help organize and book any type of tour in India.List where you want to go, your travel style, your budget and where you want to stay. They'll do all the leg work and organize local guides for you. They're locally owned so you don't pay the high markup charged by G Adventures.
Pat
[email protected] has helped us organize 2 trips to India. He’s in Vancouver area, nice guy, listens, builds around what you want - even an Indian cell phone delivered to our hotel the day we arrived! Highly recommend him.
Gloria
That sounds great, thanks Pat.
Pat
Gloria, he’s really good. I just told him what we wanted to do, he had lots of suggestions but we did what we wanted, on our own. He arranged transportation, hotels and a driver if we wanted one. It wasn’t a “tour”, we were on our own but he handled all the details, really helpful when you have limited time.

Check out g adventures
Cecilia
My female friend and I went on a tour to India and enjoyed it. The only thing I would have tried to opt out of is taking the overnight train
Gloria
Nice when you have a travelling companion. I don’t though so I’d like a very small tour.
Sindy
I love the overnight trains...saves on hotel...a/c 2nd class is with bedding.
Cecilia
Our tour group was of 10 to 12 people and there were people who traveled solo as well as with someone else. I've been on a few G Adventures tour solo and it's been great fun!
Nola
I loved our Imaginative Traveller tour but it was 10 years ago - not sure what they are offering now.
Sindy
If you don't find a friend...best bet join the government bus tours..or rail tours or hire a three wheeler for city tour.ask the hotel to get you one..play safe..I do this each visit...still trying to cover India 2 weeks per visit.
Ellen
Just had the best trip with Explore India. We had a couple of single female travellers . Not sure if it meets your budget, but check it out
Gloria
Ellen it’s much more high end. I wish. Add in single supplements, and.... travelling as a single is costly if you are no longer into backpacking, glamping or flashing.
