Very central, convenient, reasonably priced and they stock the fridge with food for you in lieu of serving breakfast. It’s a tad quirky but I loved this hotel https://www.hotelbarrett.it/en/

We stayed at the Hotel San Anselmo on a recommendation from friends in January 2024 and it was excellent! It’s on a quiet street that was close to other sites. We also did quite a bit of walking from there. It’s a smaller hotel, but the whole property and staff were awesome. Great breakfast( the freshly squeezed blood-orange juice!) I had a minor medical issue that they helped me find where I could go for treatment and they also made a reservation for us when we were asking about a non-tourist restaurant (he also called ahead for us to let us know that we would be a few minutes late). The Concierge also made arrangements for our transportation to the airport for our return.
Bonus - it’s just down the road and around the corner from the giant green door where you can look through the keyhole and see Vatican in the distance (makes a great photo)!

If I can make two unsolicited recommendations- if you’re looking for a tour, then I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend @LiveVirtualGuide . Frederica is AMAZING! She’s very passionate about her city and its history and offers small group tours. We did the tour through Travestre and the Jewish Ghetto and there was only 4 of us! We absolutely loved it and it was reasonably priced. She shares so much insight and enthusiasm!
The second is to go to the Appeian Way - it’s a multi-media “museum” that’s in different buildings located almost outside of the city (near the original Roman road). We only had time to go to one building and definitely will be going back next time. It was really inexpensive, too, I believe it was 8€ for a 3 day pass.
Have a great time!

We’ve stayed at Roma Boutique Hotel a couple times now. They’re fantastic and a great location, walkable to almost everything. Easy subway to Vatican.

We really enjoyed the Hotel Galatea. The staff at this locally owned hotel was exceptional, the room was spacious by Italian standards, breakfast was included and good (typical Italian with a few North American things in there). Our room looked into a courtyard which was shared by residences so it was neat and quirky. The location was ideal for our needs: 15 minute walk from Rome Termini, 10-15 minutes to the subway station for easy access to the Vatican and a tour meeting point at Piazza Popolo, 10-15 minutes to the Colosseum, 15-20 from Trevi Fountain. And just off Via Nazionale so also very quiet. The street had two or three restaurants, a cafe/bakery, and a small convenience store. A farmacia was just a couple of blocks away. The bed and pillows were very Italian, but still one of the better ones we had in our various places through Italy. We went in March and I think we paid under €250 a night.

Keri, we stayed at
Domus Trevi. It’s a B&B that occupies a floor in an historic building located right in the heart of Rome and around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. It’s run by a wonderful lady who is so incredibly helpful. She made so many great suggestions. She makes a great breakfast.

Hotel Nazionale is centrally located, it is beside the Parliament building which has extra security outside. Hotel also offers free breakfast. You can also pre-arrange transportation from and to airport.
