Used them all over Europe. They were highly recommended to me and I would highly recommend them to others. No issues at all and great quality guides.
Conrad
We used them in Iceland and had no problems
Colleen
I had good success with them in Europe... easy to book over wifi... I’d say do it, based on my experiences
Nicole
No issues here either...have used in Europe and Asia.
Marie
No issue here either
Kathryn
Used them in Costa Rica. Great guide! Friendly & knowledgeable.
Jennifer
We’ve had good and bad. Usually big tour groups but generally ok
Tashie
I've used them a few times in Europe and found them to be quite reliable. My favourite tour was a day trip from Milan to Venice, which I booked only a few short days before the tour.
Kenneth
Used in Italy and were happy - often they wrap around a sub contracted tour
Helen
Solid company. Used them in Guatemala and it was great.
Terra
Can I ask you what tours you took? We go in feb.
Leah
Used them in London. Worked very well!! Don't pay full price, there is always coupon codes or special pricing.
Leah
I went to book the same tour years later, I went directly to the tour company and it was still cheaper to still go through viator.
Louise
We use them in Italy.. very good
We had a tour guide that speaks 6 languages
Sonia
Used them to book in Hawaii. They were great
CiCi
loved it
Elaine
Use them all the time and happy price point is right
Sherene
Research. Sometimes it is cheaper to go directly through the tour company than through Viator.
Shauna
I love them... used them in Europe and the States
Sandra
Used them in Italy - booked it before we went and had to contact the tour provider ahead of time - that was kinda challenging to do and get the information I needed... the tour itself was excellent! Very organized although pricey... Do your homework - can sometimes be more expensive than direct booking...
Debbie
Used in Paris and was happy
Jeanette
We’ve used them a lot. Haven’t had any issues.
Sujit
Just used them in the UK for a tour, no complaints but... I think viator is just a booking service really, they appear to be a company other tour operators use to handle their front end. I also believe they're a company owned by trip advisor.
The tour I did(Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath), it was booked through viator, but handled by a local tour company(Evan Evans). That all being said, no complaints...plus, viator gives a 10% discount for your first tour if you sign up for their newsletter.
Cheryl
Used them in the UK this summer - great tours, no complaints.
Lisa
Used them in Mexico no complaints
Stephani
I loved it. I think it’s excellent.
Chris
Used them in Paris for the hop on hop off Seine tour. No problems and I was able to book and pay in advance.
Valerie
Used them in Vienna and Prague and had no issues at all.
Maria
Used them all over the U.S. And never had an issue.
Laura
I've used them lots in Europe and always had great experiences. I love that all the tours are in one place. Some tours try to fit too much into one day... so consider the itinerary carefully. But when you don't have a car they are a great option.
Chris
Sujit's explanation above is probably the best way to think of what viator really is, just a third party booking site (or consolidator), not a company that is actually operating tours. When you see a tour listed on viator, you may want to dig into the reviews and see who is actually operating the tour, and then Google for tripadvisor reviews on that person or company. That will give you the best idea of what to expect from the tour.
Yvonne
Used to them in Dubai and would definitely recommend! Was a solo traveler and felt comfortable the whole time. I picked a private tour & was impressed, he was very knowledgeable and let me alone to tour areas as well.
Skylar
Used them in Italy, no problems, great tour!
Julie
Fantastic for a cycle trip we booked
Rosemari
Used them in Rom and also New York and they were fabulous
Andrea
Used them in Egypt for several tours and in Hawaii, great experiences in both locations.

Viator Tours: A Comprehensive Review
Planning a vacation or a day trip can be an exciting yet daunting task, especially when it comes to finding reliable tour operators. Viator, a popular online tour booking platform, has garnered mixed reviews from travelers worldwide. In this detailed blog post, we'll explore the pros and cons of using Viator tours and provide you with valuable feedback to help you make an informed decision.
The Pros of Viator Tours
- Extensive Range of Tours: Viator offers a vast selection of tours and activities across numerous destinations, catering to various interests and preferences. Whether you're seeking cultural immersion, outdoor adventures, or city sightseeing, Viator has a wide array of options to choose from.
- Convenience and Accessibility: With Viator's user-friendly website and mobile app, booking tours is a breeze. You can browse, compare, and secure your desired activities with just a few clicks, saving you time and effort.
- Flexible Cancellation Policies: Many Viator tours offer flexible cancellation policies, allowing you to modify or cancel your bookings without incurring hefty fees, provided you adhere to the specified timeframes.
- Customer Reviews: Viator's platform includes customer reviews and ratings for each tour, providing valuable insights from fellow travelers. This transparency can help you make informed decisions and manage your expectations.
The Cons of Viator Tours
- Quality Inconsistencies: While Viator partners with numerous tour operators, the quality of the tours can vary significantly. Some travelers have reported subpar experiences, such as poorly organized tours, inexperienced guides, or misleading descriptions.
- Pricing Disparities: In some cases, Viator's tour prices may be higher compared to booking directly with local operators. It's essential to do your research and compare prices to ensure you're getting the best deal.
- Limited Customization: Viator primarily offers pre-packaged tours, which may not always align with your specific interests or preferences. Customizing tours or arranging private experiences can be challenging or more expensive.
- Customer Service Concerns: Some travelers have reported difficulties in resolving issues or obtaining satisfactory customer support from Viator, particularly in case of tour cancellations or complaints.
Tips for Using Viator Tours
- Read Reviews Thoroughly: Before booking a tour, take the time to read through multiple customer reviews, paying attention to both positive and negative feedback. This will help you manage your expectations and make an informed decision.
- Compare Prices: While Viator offers convenience, it's always a good idea to compare prices with other tour operators or directly with local providers to ensure you're getting the best value for your money.
- Carefully Review Tour Descriptions: Thoroughly read the tour descriptions, inclusions, and exclusions to avoid any surprises or disappointments. Pay close attention to details such as transportation, meals, and activity levels.
- Consider Combining Sources: If you're unsatisfied with the options available on Viator or prefer a more personalized experience, consider combining Viator tours with locally booked activities or creating your own itinerary with the help of travel guides or local experts.
Ultimately, the decision to use Viator tours depends on your travel preferences, budget, and level of flexibility. While Viator offers convenience and a wide range of options, it's essential to exercise due diligence, read reviews carefully, and consider alternatives to ensure a memorable and enjoyable travel experience.
