We stayed in megavissy and loved it

When are you going and for how long?

Liz hi
We haven’t picked a village or town yet
Ideally need something close to the train or bus as we won’t be renting a car.
We would like to go out each day hiking and walking in a different direction

St Ives is beautifual - also has the advantage of having an arm of the Tate Modern if art galleries are your thing. This is a great website with some lovely walk suggestions - https://www.stives-cornwall.co.uk/3-best-scenic-walks/. Also highly recommend the Eden Project https://www.edenproject.com/visit/accommodation which has on site youth hostel (not just for youth ;)). And the Lost Gardens of Heligan are worth a visit too. https://www.heligan.com/ both close to Megavissey. If you end up in St Ives, there s also the Minack theatre which is an incredible place to visit. https://www.minack.com/. This website also has some great information about buses, trains and car sharing opportunities https://www.visitcornwall.com/essentials/getting-around. Happy travels - it's a beautiful neck of the woods - enjoy the pasties, proper clotted cream teas and the local beer:)

Falmouth, Newquay and Truro are pretty much the main towns with a lot going on. They all have main bus stations and train stations so they would be your best bet to stay. You can travel to the little villages from most of these places. The coastal path which is beautiful is a must for hiking!! If you want to reach the really quaint spots like Porthcurno for example which has the Minnack theatre, then I would highly recommend renting a car. I grew up in Devon & Cornwall so know it pretty well.

Enchanting Cornwall: Where to Stay for an Unforgettable Summer Escape
Cornwall, a captivating corner of southwestern England, beckons with its rugged coastlines, picturesque fishing villages, and a rich cultural heritage. If you're planning a summer getaway to this breathtaking region, you're in for a treat. From quaint cottages nestled in charming villages to luxurious seaside resorts, Cornwall offers an array of accommodation options to suit every taste and budget.
St. Ives: A Coastal Gem
Perched on the northwestern coast of Cornwall, St. Ives is a renowned artist's colony and a true gem for those seeking a quintessential seaside escape. The Travelcornwallblog recommends staying at the Carbis Bay Hotel, a luxurious beachfront resort with stunning views of the turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Alternatively, consider booking a cozy cottage in the heart of St. Ives, like the Porthmeor Cottage, which offers a prime location and a taste of local life.
Padstow: A Foodie's Paradise
Padstow, a picturesque fishing village on the Camel Estuary, is a foodie's dream destination. Home to renowned restaurants and celebrity chefs, this charming town offers a range of accommodation options. For a truly indulgent experience, consider staying at the Padstow Townhouse, a chic boutique hotel with an on-site restaurant serving locally-sourced culinary delights. Alternatively, the Old Custom House, a charming bed and breakfast located in a historic building, offers a cozy and authentic Cornish experience.
Fowey: A Literary Haven
The enchanting town of Fowey, nestled on the banks of the River Fowey, has long been a muse for writers and artists. Here, you can immerse yourself in the literary ambiance by staying at the Old Ferry Inn, a 16th-century inn with cozy rooms and a delightful riverside setting. For a more luxurious option, consider the Fowey Hall Hotel, a stunning manor house set amidst lush gardens and offering breathtaking views of the estuary.
Falmouth: A Nautical Delight
Falmouth, a vibrant coastal town with a rich maritime history, offers a blend of culture, outdoor adventures, and seaside charm. Stay at the St. Michaels Resort, a luxurious beachfront hotel with an indoor pool and spa facilities, or opt for the Greenbank Hotel, a charming Victorian-era property with picturesque gardens and easy access to the town center.
No matter where you choose to stay in Cornwall, you'll be enchanted by the region's natural beauty, rich heritage, and warm hospitality. Book your accommodation early to ensure availability during the peak summer season, and get ready to create lasting memories in this idyllic corner of England.
