Cheryl
Don't take yours because it will be fried. Buy a cheap one there.
Leanna
Never had a problem in any of those countries...I bought a cheap set of 5 adaptors AND a power converter. That's what will fry your appliances....you need the power converter so that your 110 amp appliances will work with the 220 amp power over there. No converter will definitely fry your appliances!
Pat
Leanna...where did you buy the adapter and converter?
Patti
and how much did it cost?
Christin
The Source sells them
Ashley
You can also buy cheap travel blow dryers at shoppers where you can change the amp from 110/220, whenever you'd like. They usually fold up and take up less room! Got one for all of my travels.
Leanna
The set I bought is Conair, I got it quite some time ago, but they can be found at luggage stores, luggage dept of places like The Bay, or AMA travel agencies....shouldn't be more than $20 I'd guess?
Jasmin
My daughter travels to the Middle East every year and she just uses one that was purchased at Walmart. She used it for her blow dryer straightener etc
Sarah
AMA has adapters for those CPU tries

Travel adapters (comes with a selection of at least 4 or 5) + converter, Superstore $20. Worked fine.

Insignia converter from best buy has worked well over the last year

Wal-Mart selling adapter for every country in one package

They have these items for sale in these countries just buy them there. When you get home sell them on Kijiji to another person going to a 250V country
the 9.99 walmart tranvformer will not protect your expensive electronic devices
Josh
But the ones sold overseas will? Lol!
Chris
I think maybe Mike is referring to the item itself (blow dryer, curling iron, etc). You can buy versions of them overseas that support higher voltage. You can also buy ones that support dual voltage, to be used either here or somewhere with higher voltage when you travel. Curling irons and blow dryers not rated for the local voltage do tend to melt voltage converters quite often!
Ann
Also check your hair dryer mine works on both voltages, I just have to turn a button to the right voltage, but you still need the adapter plugs.
Jess
I used my normal flat iron and curling iron in Italy last year with a normal euro travel adaptor and nothing fried. So far.

The Best Travel Adapter for Turkey, Greece, and Italy
When traveling to countries with different electrical standards, having the right travel adapter is crucial to keep your electronic devices safe and functional. Turkey, Greece, and Italy use a mix of different power outlet types, so it's essential to have an adapter that can accommodate them all.
Electrical Standards in Turkey, Greece, and Italy
- Turkey: Uses Type C (Europlug) and Type E/F sockets, with a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.
- Greece: Uses Type C (Europlug) and Type F sockets, with a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.
- Italy: Uses Type L and Type F sockets, with a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.
The Best Travel Adapter for Turkey, Greece, and Italy
To ensure compatibility with all the power outlet types in these countries, it's recommended to get a universal travel adapter. A good option is the Wonkey Universal Travel Adapter. This adapter features:
- Support for Type C (Europlug), Type E/F, Type L, and many other outlet types.
- Built-in safety features like voltage conversion, overload protection, and a fuse.
- Four USB ports for charging multiple devices simultaneously.
- Compact and lightweight design for easy portability.
Protecting Your Hair Tools
Regarding the concern about blow dryers and curling irons getting fried, it's important to note that these devices often have dual voltage capabilities. However, it's still recommended to use a travel adapter with voltage conversion and surge protection features to safeguard your hair tools.
Additionally, consider investing in a dual voltage hair dryer or curling iron specifically designed for international travel. These devices can automatically adjust to different voltage levels, ensuring safe and reliable operation no matter where you go.
Personal Experiences
Many travelers have had positive experiences using universal travel adapters like the Wonkey adapter in Turkey, Greece, and Italy. However, it's always a good idea to check the voltage requirements of your specific devices and exercise caution when using high-wattage appliances with travel adapters.
Remember to pack your travel adapter and dual voltage hair tools in your carry-on luggage to avoid any issues with misplaced or damaged checked baggage.
