Due to a flexible work schedule and no personal commitments I was able to jump on a plane 9 times last year for some unbelievable getaways, seven of these were booked because of YVR Deals. I loved Ireland and the Cook Island, but I left my heart in Mexico City; I am hoping to get back there again this year.

Amy what company did you rent the campervan from and how long did the trip take you?

Profile picture of Amy

Amy

Heather Truthfully, my Hubby did all the driving. We got an automatic this time. And a newer Toyota that drove like a dream apparently. Also, we didn’t get a super-sized camper! We did the same trip years ago, pre-kids, and the camper van was a standard. I tried to drive it, as I do drive a standard, but not the same thing at all! Couldn’t do it. He drove - I reminded him to stay in left lane!

Amy thanks! I’m always the only driver so I need to be sure. I’d do an automatic too... no need to make it harder while on vacation. Even if I can drive a stick

Tony, while there you must take the day trip to Aitutaki...it is in a smaller plane about an hour flight. there is nothing on this planet like the aitutaki lagoon. the colours of the air new zealand planes were taken from the colour of the lagoon. it is not cheap there...rent a moped which is very popular to get around. the cultural centre is very interesting.

The Best Travel Experiences of 2018

As we bid farewell to 2018, it's hard not to feel grateful for the incredible travel opportunities we've had this year. Thanks to the amazing deals shared by YVR Deals, we've been able to explore new destinations, create unforgettable memories, and experience different cultures like never before.

Discovering Hidden Gems

One of the best things about travel is stumbling upon hidden gems that you never knew existed. From quaint local cafes to off-the-beaten-path hiking trails, these unexpected discoveries often become the highlights of our trips.

For many, 2018 was the year they discovered the charming cobblestone streets of Antigua, Guatemala, or the breathtaking landscapes of Montenegro. Others fell in love with the vibrant street art and delicious cuisine of Penang, Malaysia, or the stunning natural beauty of the Algarve region in Portugal.

Making New Friends

Travel isn't just about the places we visit, but also the people we meet along the way. Some of the most memorable experiences of 2018 involved connecting with locals, sharing stories, and learning about their way of life.

Whether it was joining a family for a traditional meal in a small village in Vietnam or exchanging travel tips with fellow backpackers in a hostel in Bangkok, these interactions often left a lasting impact on us and reminded us of the beauty of human connection.

Stepping Out of Our Comfort Zones

One of the greatest gifts of travel is the opportunity to step out of our comfort zones and try new things. From embarking on an epic multi-day hike in Patagonia to diving into the crystal-clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef, many of us pushed our limits and conquered fears in 2018.

These experiences not only created unforgettable memories but also helped us grow as individuals, building confidence and resilience that we can carry with us into the new year.

Looking Ahead to 2019

As we reflect on the incredible adventures of 2018, we can't help but feel excited for what the new year has in store. With YVR Deals by our side, we know that more incredible travel opportunities await, and we can't wait to see where our wanderlust takes us next.

So, here's to 2018 – a year filled with adventures, new friendships, and personal growth. And here's to 2019, where we'll continue to explore, discover, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
