Your travel date is high season and most expensive season to travel .. you can fly to Thailand or Philippine under thousand dollar and visit Boracay or Phuket and spent another thousand dollar for hotel and food, its warm and fun,here is links

Sana Well where ever you go it is going to be expensive as lots of others are wanting to do the same thing. I don't know about Asia, but looking to find accommodations in Europe for extended vacations, I always run out of options starting about mid Dec to mid Jan. Europeans tend to spend a lot of family time between Christmas and Jan 6, you may find many thing are either closed or have reduced hours during that time. Rentals usually bump up to high season summer rates for those 2 to 3 weeks, We have always avoided travel during that time.
